(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have the MP3 on my phone and on my computer, plays great on my phone, i just wish there was an easy way to convert it directly on my phone. I know i can use sound recorder, but it sounds like crap, its mickey mouse. I need something legit. Is there any free software out there? Or better yet, is there a way of converting it straight on the treo? *Sigh* I miss windows.

My 700p just doesn't like Minitones or Musictones (similar program to minitones). I know how to convert my mp3's to .wav and can put them on my SD card. But from there Im stuck. I cant transfer the files using Filez. And I don't have a data plan, so emailing is out of the question. Ive also tried opening the files in Blazer, but keep getting error messages saying the files dont exist. Im all out of ideas....can anyone help???

Don't convert them to WAV...... leave them as mp3's and then
put them on your Sd card..... MiniTones will fine the .mp3 files
on the card.

I used to have ringo some time ago and the issue I had run into was that it would show "caller unavailable" when I had the program enabled. Is this fixed in the newer version?

i have not recieved my treo 650 yet. i should in a couple days. i just wanted to know if it is possible to make an mp3 ringtone play when you recieve an sms.

i plan on using minitones... is it possible to do that?

Posted by: daveron

This doesn't work without an SD card. Is their any way to use mp3 ringtones that are in the phone memory?

Posted by: caven

minitones is good but there are still glitches they need to resolve...
I have used it on a 700p/755/centro and it restarts the device after making 2-3 ringtones with a decent length. same thing happens on my friends phones

Nice ringtones for all Palm Treo models, thanks you

Posted by: dougeetx

Forget that! Just go to http://www.myxertones.com and get all of the ringtones that you can ever want for free!! You're welcome!!

ive used wavs and just use bluetooth from pc to treo to transfer. its easy.. no extra programs to run. plus you get to customize the clip of the song you want to play.. or even just have different sounds all together.

Minitones doesn't find any mp3's on my SD card, even though there are tons there which all other programs can see fine. With Musictones I can browse all my mp3's, but it won't let me preview them, and any mp3 I tell it to turn to a ringtone just outputs a 0.0 kb tone that does nothing. Mtunes works, but costs money, and doesn't let me trim. Are there any other free (preferably) or commercial apps that I could try.
(Treo 650)

when I had my treo 650 I used ringo...

You can use mini-tones without an SD card if you use this software filepc2pda.prc, a serial port server for PalmOS(R). I used it yesterday to make a ring on my 700p treo...I didn't think it was be possible until I found this work around.

To bad that program is windows only =[

The myxertones linked above however works great! I don't understand why the phone is crippled though to make you jump through hoops to do this simple task.

I use Ringo for my ringtones on my 650 and now on my 755p. You are able to set an mp3 for individual contacts or group. You can also set mp3's for sms's.

Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D062; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

minitones works great on my centro.

Another option is to use audacity to cut out the clip you want as a ringtone and upload it via myxertones.
