hey all,

i am currently crosseyed and confused about my alltel v3m and motorola phone tools working properly.

my system is a compaq 2100 presario notebook with amd.
windows xp.

have downloaded and installed:

mpt 4.0.4 and is updated
Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_2.9.0.msi
UIDExtractionTool_02_02_Installer.exe
Handset_USB_Driver_32_v2.9.0.zip

i even have the mpt 4.5.1c

the issue is the "motorola usb modem" driver in the systems hardware list and showing the "?" beside it as well as the pci modem showing a "?" beside it too.
also, in the "adding of new device wizard", the the only port that shows available is "com1"

i am a pretty confused noob right now.

am i supposed to "seem" the mpt before expecting the mpt to talk to the phone? (it currently tries to initialize and nothing is talking)

i have no clue of what i am doing and am hoping for some guidance.

THANKS!!!

update:

the "motorola usb modem" appears in the modems list in the device manager, but shows "currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer (code45)"

hmmmm

extreme noob that is lost.....???

is the "pci modem" neccessary?
