touch screen not working...

today i woke up to a phone call from my gf. after i hung up, i wanted to check the weather. i unlocked the phone and proceeded to push the weather icon and what happens? nothing. the screen would not respond to anything. the volume, silence, sleep/wake button all works fine. i can even unlock the phone. but after it gets unlocked, the screen does not respond to anything. i have scheduled to go see a genius. hopefully, the iphone will get fixed or even better, replaced.

anybody else have similar experience with their iphone?

Mine does that all the time.. I have to power off then on again..

have you tried a soft reset or a restore in itunes? That would probably do the trick

Nope works great for me every time.

but something is wrong with the phone and that would just be a quick fix. i want this problem to go away.

well, i just came back from the genius bar. the guy didn't do much except a soft reset (home button+sleep). the phone works now, but when will it freeze again? i dont know. he wanted to send it out to get it fixed, but i didn't have the phone backed up. i'm planning to back everything up and have it sent out to apple to get it repaired.

this is a major pain in the *** for a $650 cellphone.

the truth is that the phone is pretty buggy. not everyone works right all the time.

Maybe that's the best solution for your. But maybe it wouldn't freeze again at all.

bottom line is that this phone is very buggy. I see so many suggestions to do a reset through iTunes. This is not a suitable fix for me. After my third one I gave up on it and will reconsider once apple irons out all the issues and opens it up a little more. I should not have to go around doing resets all the time. Just my opinion but i had enough with it. For all you not having problems i am happy for you, but i think that you are in the minority!!!

i've been doing resets on my old p800, my e61 and several other "smart" devices.... its part of it now adays, unfortauntely...

plus, if you do a restore on your phone, it is likely to not happen again... since the touchscreen works sometimes, (and not at random as if something was loose, but on a particula application) i would be inclined to think it is just a software glitch.

i do not mind soft resets so much as this is a side effect of the os on the mobile but hard resets through itunes seem too fequent for me. This phone has GREAT potential and i think will be a powerhouse in a year, especially if they stabilize the signal and call quality.

i need a full restore on my e61 quite often, or i can just live with it locking up all the time...

the p800 i think wasnt as bad... i had some problem with the 9300 too, but i only kept it a short while

honestly, many of these "smartphones" just don't cut it.

Had it for a month. Never done a reset.

I have this problem and worse, the whole row that weather is in doesn't respond, therefore neither does the 456 keys either. I've reset and restored almost a dozen times, nothing works. I'll be bringing it in as well and asking for a replacement on the spot, stupid I should have to wait for something that won't be fixed but will have to be replaced. Mine also doesn't show who is calling, the screen stays blank and now the charger is going one me, at least the part that plugs into the wall. This is why I am asking for a swap out on the spot, too many issues and I'm not going to spend more money to rent something when every other phone out there would be swapped out if the problem cannot be fixed by the tech on the spot.
