Texting Glitch--iPhone Substitutes Old Texts and Resends Them

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a friend with whom I exchange SMS on a regular basis and SMS worked flawlessly up until my third or fourth day after activation. Now, it resends old SMS messages in place of current messages. And yesterday, my friend received a text from me that I sent five days ago but had never arrived (an older SMS had arrived in its place).

What's going on? AT&T Network problem? My iPhone or all iPhones? I've searched but didn't find any posts on this.

My friend is on AT&T so this isn't a cross-carrier issue.

Thanks for your help in advance.

do you clear out the conversations at all? maybe that could be causing it or it could be a att problem. I have had it send txt messages really late sometimes.

Wow that would suck if it sent the wrong text to the wrong person, esecially old ones... going to clear my phone now haha

Never had this problem. How many texts do you have stored? have you tried clearing out the conversations and seeing if that solves the problem?

Text message on the iPhone are stored in an SQLite database, so it's possible (though I have yet to see it myself) that this database might have gotten corrupted on your phone. perhaps wiping out the conversations might do the trick. Worst case scenario, you may have to do a restore on the phone in iTunes.
