ok im a cheapo
i got a data cable for my kx160/kx16 phones ($.99 off ebay)
anyways this stupid cable didnt come with any drivers
i tried all the ones on Kyoceras site, but none worked
the seller wasnt any help
they said check with Kyocera, then i told them it was not a Kyocera adapter so thats not any help, so they sent me a faq about return policies
im at my wits end here
the closest i can get to making this work is a PL-2303 Driver i found
but all that does is not pop up the new hardware wizard
please if anyone has seen this cable, or know of any other non-OEM drivers that i can try
please let me know

thanks but
"The requested URL /downloads/Driver01.zip was not found on this server."

any other links/ideas?
Posted by: healthman345
very sorry about that. here are the drivers you need http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/sup...a_S_Windows.zip
Posted by: dmcbudman
wow your fast
sorry i guess i should have been more specific
i got those, just the other drivers are not there
i found the same guide here
http://www.datacabledrivers.com/downloads/kyocera/
and the link to Driver01.zip worked
but they still dont help
i can see my adapter in device manager listed as 'prolific usb-to-serial bridge'
but i still cant detect my phone
bitpim acts like it sees the phone, but does not support it ('generic' doesnt let me download/upload anything)

im still on the hunt, so ill post back if i ever get it working
if anyone else has anything for me to try
please let me know
[edit]
guess i should have elaborated a bit

ok i got a little more info
devcon tells me:
USB\VID_067B&PID_2303\5&3873A573&0&2
Name: USB-Serial Controller
Hardware ID's:
USB\Vid_067b&Pid_2303&Rev_0300
USB\Vid_067b&Pid_2303
Compatible ID's:
USB\Class_ff&SubClass_00&Prot_00
USB\Class_ff&SubClass_00
USB\Class_ff
and the prolific drivers are for "For Prolific USB VID_067B&PID_2303 Only"
looks good except for i have two IDs and the first is "Rev_0300"
maybe thats the problem?
doubt it, im starting to think this cable is broken somehow
the seller told me they would exchange it or refund me
but its not even worth it, i can buy a new one with drivers for the price to ship it back to them
are there some certain steps/tricks i could be doing wrong?
Posted by: dmcbudman
ok ill post this in my thread too
so i figured i had a bad cable/wrong drivers. so i went and bought another non oem cable, this one came with the driver disc.
when i got it, it was the same cable i had previously bought, and the disc had the same old prolific drivers i downloaded.
needless to say, its not working either.
so lets get this straight....
install the modem drivers.....
install the cable drivers.....
hook up the phone (while turned on).....
plug in the usb to the pc....
and KMPT is supposed to recognize it.
no special tricks/tips i need to know about?

I bougth the same cable to the same seller
I can't find the correct drivers to this cable....
Do you solve the problem??
In addittion I live in Argentina and return it is impossible. I think that I would had buy the OEM cable which cost 20 dollars
Does your latest instructions worked?
Thanks!

I purchased this same cable. Not only does it not work but it fried the battery in the KX16 as many others have stated. I'm going to file with the BBB if they don't respond to me soon. I've contacted them a few times and have received very non-personal, useless auto-responses.

Try these drivers....
According with this link http://www.datapilot.com/drivers/Re...Driver_2000.htm these are the correct drivers...
http://rapidshare.com/files/8929763...Driver.rar.html
I will to re-install my windows because I cannot delete the original prolific to serial drivers....
Bye

Thanks! I'd try them out, but plugging the phone in doesn't even detect any hardware ;( Anyone know a fix for that?

Well, my Kyocera OEM cable came in the mail today. I plugged it in and right away it worked with no problems. It's worth the extra $15+. GO OEM with these phones!
It's so nice to not have to hassle with this anymore.

I have a KX5B phone (not the remix) and a non OEM cable. Would any of these links work for me? I can't seem to find any drivers anywhere
Posted by: g3media
I have an extra OEM cable if anyone wants one. I'll discount it for $15 shipped (us) and $20 (intl). Email me through the site if you're interested. It comes with the soft/drivers CD as well.
I don't think the KX5b works with ours, but I'm not 100% sure. You can check on kyocera's website.
