Kyocera KX5 Programing - very confused blonde here?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey there guys (and gals)!

I'm new here and, honestly, I don't know jack about programming, electronic and computers and stuff. I give you that bit information, so hopefully you guys can word you answer(s) so that your granny can understand them. lol

I have a two part problem that I'm hoping you brainacis can help me with. (One part will be posted here and the other over in the Alltel section - if you want a challange )

-- I am using a Kyocera KX5 Slider Remix with Alltel as the Provider

---I'm trying to get my pictures off of my phone and back up the contacts. I was able to do this before (about six months or so ago). I have the cable ... had the program all installed nice and pretty. everything worked great! UNTIL my hubby got a bug up his butt and decieded we NEEDED Vista and to change over to 64bit whatever. Anyway, I thought I had backed up the program, but I didn't. The disk is now MIA and hubby ... well he deployed. So I'm stuck. I managed to find the program (not even sure if it's the right one) but I can't get it to run. It won't recogize my phone and the contacts are not stored on that little card thingy. I might have to send the phone into Alltel (see that section for that mess) and I would really like to get my personnal stuff off of it before I have to send it in. I have read other posts where you guys were talking about using other programs, would this help me? How would I get them and run them with this phone? I know this should probablly be easy to all of you guys, but as for me ... I have no clue!

I will try very hard to answer any question you guys might have, in order to help me fix this mess!

Thanks
~TotallyBlonde

i think the program your looking for is Bitpim. i will see if i can find drivers for you.

*Edit* here is the link for drivers

Healthman, I think I need the actual Bitpim program right? Not just the driver. I did get those drivers though - I used the TXDTA10102 (it matched my cable :-) )

Posted by: healthman345

yes you need the bitpim program. did you try using the program you have with your new drivers?

Posted by: TotallyBlonde

I don't have the bitpim program ... I don't know where to find it.
My original program that came with the data Cd was wiped during the vista upgrade and the data CD is now MIA.

here is the link to it

Healthman, I download the program and installed it - BUT my phone is not detected and it's not listed. Any ideas? Different program, maybe?

Below is the link to download and setup the serial cable for the kx5. Its the original cd that came with our phone from Alltel. Its in zip format and should be easy to install.
You don't and will not need bitpim to do the things your asking above^
Download it....install > then go into menu> then settings> then select USB storage and "ENABLE". After that it's straight forward. Your phone will appear as a drive on your computer. Just go to my computer on "your computer" and it should be drive "F" depending on how many other drives you have. From there its just drag and drop the files you need.
Hope this helps

Jeepbme, Ok here in lays the problem ... I have that, and it is installed. All it does is lets me see SOME of the pictures I have on my phone. I still can't get to my contacts, ringtones or caller id pics. These are what I need to save/back up, because I do beleive it's heading towards sending my phone or some how reformating it (see alltel thread for that mess).
