8525 and Windows Moble 6 question

Ok, I just bought (as in its currently shipping) a 8525. My understanding is that it comes with WM5 yes?

I have seen the thread over at xda-developers.com (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...d.php?t=317339).

My question is, is this the actual release for Cingular? When will Cingular actually release it themselves?

I would try to read through all these threads I'm seeing, but there is a massive amount to go through, and I would just like to know if it's worth going ahead with the upgrade, or should I be "safe?" and wait till Cingular officially releases the update?

Cingular = AT&T (take your pick)

It is a Real ATT release just not public from HTC....yet. The guy that released it works somewhere for ATT/Cingular. The same thing happened when the AKU3 WM5 ROM was imminent. Also someone was actually shipped that ROM on an 8525 by accident we guess, but Fedex delivered it with it, however no other reports of that happening.

Cool, thanks for the help. So it should be relatively safe to install. It looks like its simply an application you run on your desktop that updates the phone via the sync cable. Is that correct?

Just make sure to read and follow the instructions on how to do it. It is very simple but be warned - once you start upgradinging and flashing ROM's you will get hooked and will be always wanting more.

Good luck.

Good advice. When I decided to take the plunge it became addictive. I recommend reading everything BEFORE you do anything, as that will give you an insight beforehand.
