iPhone to be released in Europe

Now we will see what the real, if any, appeal the iPhone purportedly has.

Europeans have had it so good in the mobile market fo so long, it will be interesting to see how a well marketed, albeit poorly designed and feature lacking device, performs in a place where you can get even the most advanced mobiles for free, on contract, of course.

Let's see if the they wanna shell out that kind of cash for a status symbol.

How much does data access usually cost in various parts of Europe?

Would there likely be any equivalent to the $20 per month U.S. fee?

Thanks!

"real, if any"
"purportedly"
"poorly designed"

Bitter perhaps?

BTW, I returned the N75 I had. Now there is a poorly designed device. Battery barely lasts a day on a good day, menus painfully slow, and the camera was terrible. But I'm not going to go incite chaos in the Nokia section, am I?

You Apple guys get so offended easily.

My N75's battery lasts 2 days tops, and then I charge it. People don't realize battery life is directly related to consumer usage. You may gab on the phone more than I do. I rarely used the data features either.

Every phone has it's flaws, I know that. I just don't get why iPhone owners are so hesitant to recognize any??

Bitter???

What would I have to be bitter about? I don't care what kind of phone you use. Just stating my given right to say what I want.

I didn't challenge your contention that the phone lacks features. It does. It's not perfect.

But then again, you're the one that is trolling

When someone comes into the Apple forum and wants to debate the iPhone, it's called trolling.

I just like mobile phones and talking about them.

I just bought a SE W580i and I am hearing that it is great & sucks. I don't care what people think of it. Ultimately it is up to me to decide if I like it or not.

Not to get into a big argument here, but you weren't "debating the iPhone", you were trolling.

Read your initial post over:

You aren't debating. You're trying to incite a "flame war". This is what trolling is.

A debate-style post would have gone something like this:

Quote:
I don't like the iPhone. And here is why:

The phone does not appeal to me. And I don't think it actually appeals to that many others either. Right now, I think it's just a status symbol.

Further, while it is well marketed, I think it lacks a lot of features that are important to me.

What do you all think?

Notice the difference?

I have to disagree with you on this. I got banned for two days because they said I was trolling. I mentioned several times my thoughts on my current Iphone and many did not like what I had to say. Yes, I do take responsibility for calling certain folks(fan boys) but there was no ill feelings towards them. I just wanted to open up discussion on some issues that are clearly seen by many Iphone users..in Howards, Phonescoop and many internet chat forums.

This is similar to the post about the 8GB N95 being a threat to the iPhone. The thread literally takes off with non-iPhone owners attacking the iPhone. I guess people wouldn't consider it "trolling" if they presented the topic differently. For example, if the OP would have said, "Found this on Gsm Arena, thought it was interesting to see how Europeans react" as opposed to attacking the iPhone after presenting the article, maybe people wouldn't have taken it like he was "trolling". It's not what you say, I suppose it's how you say it. Yeah, people debate all the time about what phones they like/don't like but you have to admit that the iPhone is under much more scrutiny than any other phone. Every other thread is a a non-iPhone owner saying that they hate this or that, etc. You don't see that in any other topic BUT the iPhone topic.

It is comments like these that give forums a bad name. You use a news article about the iPhone being released in Europe and somehow twist it to incite a flame war. It's a shame HoFo does not have a rep system so people like you could be weeded out.

On topic:
How is this going to work? It sounds like they will have different companies in different countries, how will they ever manage to keep the thing locked to a carrier? Makes me wonder about the longevity of the hacking that has been going on.

It may not have any appeal in europe (I doubt it as they are even more fashion cnscious than americans, + there are tons of users who bought from europe a $1000 ipod with wifi)...

It does lack features at the moment, which are software based (xcept for 3G which I admit is big in europe and will be a dealbreaker for MANY). it is NOT however badly designed, that is practically impossible to sustain as a comment, maybe as an opinion but just as a fact like this you cant state like that and not be inciting a war...

The UI is said by all to be amazing (even those who say they returned it cause it lacks so many features), so design +1
The phone is beautiful, just ask anyone on the street, so design +1
The phone isnt bricky or very big, design +1

you get the picture, dont you?

whether it will do well in europe is anyones guess, I personally believe it will as I was in europe very recently and EVERYONE knew what it was about and wanted one badly...
