Question - Is HTC Erato / S420 happening on Cingular? I am looking for a replacement for my 3125...

No indication yet that it's coming, HTC hasn't even confirmed anything regarding this phone. To date, it's all been rumors and 'roadmap' stuff but nothing concrete.

I'm also a 3125 owner. What is the future for WM6 smartphones in clamshell/flip form factor? Everything new seems to be a BlackBerry competitor. I have a BB which I use exclusively for email. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I do not want a QWERTY keyboard on my phone. My phone should be as small and light as possible and flawlessly sync with Outlook Contacts and Calendar.

So, is there a future after the 3125? Will the HTC Erato or the I-Mate Ultimate 9150 ever see the light of day? Will Motorola ever get in this game?

I am also an owner of the 3125, and I think it is the best phone I have ever had. I agree and really hope they release the HTC Erato or S420. Where is the market of compact flip style smartphones, I know I am not the only one who want the abilities of a smartphone without carrying a PDA in my pocket...

If the device is worth it, just buy it unlocked. It has all the bands that at&t supports. Sure, it cost more that way, but at least you don't have to renew your contract.

The i-mate 9150 is dead according to the latest info. Only 2 of the 5 i-mate ultimate series have survived the latest fiasco that is i-mate. I have my doubts that that company is going to survive w/o HTC backing their product line. They just seem to be having one issue after another these days.

I agree, the flip format just doesn't seem to be that popular in the Smartphone arena. I loved my Mpx220 and my 3125 also. Initially I really wanted the Erato when specs started to surface, but I really want a little more these days, but still don't want a bulky touchscreen PPC device. My next phone is going to be the HTC S730 that is rumored to be coming this fall, either unlocked or via ATT according to the latest rumors. It's a candybar, qwerty slider, about the size of the 3125 folded up. It's got it all, finally a one-stop-shopping device by HTC. Only thing I'll miss is tossing it in my pocket, but I'll just slap a screen protector on it and not worry about it, especially if I get it from ATT on a 2-year contract price, that'll make it somewhat easier to toss around.

PDA net has the Erato listed as September - fat chance!

Imate also had the X series Navajo which looks very smart but it is probably vapourware
