Flashing my V3c

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I stumbled upon this website today, after reading a nearly year old copy of PC magazine.

The verizon OS on my Razr is a real pain, and I never knew i could change it.

I've looked around the site, but I'm having trouble finding the definitive resources I need for my phone. Can I flash to any current version of firmware for the Razer V3* line or is there one specific for my model (V3c)?

A few other questions I had were:

- Can I back up the data on my phone? Contacts, etc?
- Will I be able to import the data back in once I flash it?
- Will I need to do anything to set up my phone for functionality? Or will it work as normal, just with new firmware?

Thanks! I'm a huge newbie when it comes to this stuff, so your help is greatly appreciated.

If you have a V3C.. you want to Flash with V3C firmware.

Since you don't like the Verizon UI, might I suggest the Vivo or Alltel V3C firmware... It gets you the Moto UI back...

Two guides to follow...
Vivo -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Vivo_Monster1.htm
Alltel -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster2.htm

READ THEM COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT!!! Pay attention to every detail, even the fine print!!!

Both are discussed in threads in the Verizon/Moto section of HoFo (links to the discussion threads are present in BOTH guides)...

Yes, software called Moto Phone Tools will do this.

Read the threads, and the guides completely BEFORE you attempt...

Failure to completely follow/perform every step will impact your outcome.

There are some quirks, issues due to the Vivo and Alltel firmwares not being for Verizon's network... that is where reading the threads come in... you'll get a better understanding of what to expect after the flash IF you read the threads first!!

Thank you,

You'll have to find a firmware from a CDMA provider that uses BREW (Like Bell or Telus), and then make sure what is needed to make that work on your wireless carrier's network...

i.e. Verizon and Alltel are BOTH CDMA carriers... BUT their setup for data authentication is different... so we had to do work to get Alltel firmware working on Verizon's wireless network... and even then, if you do a *228 (to program the phone, or update the PRL), it will break your data services due to the differences...

In other words... in the CDMA world.. its a lot different then the GSM world.
