HELP ! VZW "disconnected" my wireless account?

First time poster, long time lurker... please be gentle.

I've been with VZW for about 2.5 yrs now, have seen out my crappy 2 yr contract with them that expired 3 months ago, and just received my latest bill...no surprises there...

EXCEPT...when I logged into MyAccount, lo and behold, I am informed that my service has been disconnected, and I now have only "limited" ability to view and print my bill, nothing more.

Hmmm..... Sure enough, #MIN does not work anymore either. But, I can make and receive calls, and received a SMS not too long ago either. So, I'm thinking, what gives?

I visited a VZW store near my place a month ago, and told one of the guys that I planned on getting a new phone, but not signing a contract renewal ( I'm on month-to-month now), and he told me that nothing would change with my contract when i was m2m.

Which brings me back to ... what in the world are they upto? My account has always been in good standing, and why they would pull the plug out is beyond me. ... My former employer had some sort of Employee discount of 15% or something like that with them, but on checking my bill, it seems that they still were giving me that discount until lately,..... could that have anything to do with this? If so, what should I be looking to do to get my service "re-instated" ( even though its working) ?????

Its too late to call a CSR tonight ( they shut at 11 EST, i tried at 11:30 when i checked my account), and I was wondering if anyone else on here had this happen to them?

On the flip side, i would not mind dumping VZW and moving to Sprint/Cingular. I'm in DC, and was hoping someone could offer some insight into that ( even though Verizon is the only carrier that offers any coverage in the Metro).

TIA... would appreciate any advice/input on this matter.

As I said in the main forum, take 2 aspirins and check in the morning, it is going through nightly maintenance, your account is active.

I think you read too much into the "temporarily unavailable".
if you dont mind crappy cs and no signal in the metro area you will be happy with Sprint

thanks for the input guys. I develop web solutions, and I thought Verizon would have the common sense to put up a more sensible message. My mistake.

I like the data phones and the tethering that Sprint has, so I may just switch for that. VZW does not allow tethering from what I was told.....

VZW allows tethering, you just have to have that feature (if you want to do it "legally").
