So I just used iBricker...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

And getting everything on my phone couldn't have been easier! I got the phone running a few apps and put my ringtones on there.

I hear iFuturistic is better on mac with moving apps in the springboard and changing icons and such, but iBricker is great to get started on the PC.

I would love to use it... I'm on 64-bit vista though... and I can't even sync my iphone.

Isnt that pathetic? Only reason I run 32 bit on my notebook...

Does iBrickr allow you to change the system sounds as well?

Yes. Ringtones, system sounds, add applications and files. It does not allow you to reorder icons in the springboard, change themes, or change the carrier icon

What kind of 3rd party apps can you add to the phone?

Right on! I just tried it. VERY easy to do.

I had one sound that I had converted through iTunes, and one that I let iBrickr do... they are loud enough, but sound a little distorted. At least I can HEAR them now.

How do you change the icons on the home page with iBrickr? It's not obvious.

Posted by: zoeconner

If I do this will I have problems later on when apple has an update or will it be OK?

You will probably have to reload everything again after updating but there shouldn't be any issues. I would wait to update though until it is confirmed whether or not the existing version of iBrickr will work with the new update. I'm sure they will release a new version very quickly if necessary.

open ibrickr, click on "files". click on the "applications" folder, then you will see all the apps in individual folders. each app folder contains an "icon.png" file, this is the main icon for the app, so if your going to replace it with your own, just click on it and delete it, upload yours (with the same name "icon.png") to that same folder. restart phone.

^ this is quoted from someone else on a different forum, but it does work.

Oops. I really meant to ask how do you change the order of the icons on the home page, not the icons themselves.

Here sometime in the NEAR future, we will have an awesome tool released for theme generation. This tool will allow you to do just that, change placement of the icons on the home screen. It would not be eaier either, you see them on the screen of an iphone on the computer via theme generator on windows. You can change icons, and add icons, and just click, and drag them where you want them at on the screen. There is a youtube video on it to show what it is looking like so far.

Here is the link, check out the video: http://myiphoneforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145

you need to download the display order plist file to change order

Mine all sound a little distorted too. Does it happen for you with those you made in iTunes vs. ones that iBricker converted?

I have a problem I was hoping someone here could help me with.

I downloaded softare installed it and ran the file but it gets stuck at the first screen asking you to connect it to the USB cable. Gets no further. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks,

mine did the same thing. just unplug usb then plug back in and re-open program. works fine for me!

I use iBricker for all the icon and events ringtones modding and then I use the latest version of iFuntastic for all the UI customization. these two programs are great.

thank goodness I have an iMac which means I can do both XP and the Mac OS all in one good looking package.

Yeah I can't wait to get my Macbook Pro. I wish I could use iFuturistic to rearrange icons. I don't feel like doing it the hard way

You could always get some screens from http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1107
They have several nice screens with custom icons. You just have to overright the existing icon.png files and the order files. Easy as pie...
Mine looks like this:

Is it possible to have a date on the homescreen besides just the time. I notice the date is only on the unlock screen.

Posted by: deanfx

the calendar widget on the homescreen shows the correct day of the month

That's one of this first things I noticed and said "oh that's cool." Now if only the weather widget did the same thing...

Yes the current temp and weather on the weather icon would be sweet...

Soooo...if I add some new apps to the phone via iBricker...the icon for that app appears on my home/icon screen automatically correct?

Hacker n00b here, sorry...

Posted by: SimTech

Yes, the new icon(s) fills in a blank spot on your homescreen. If you have custom icons, they won't match very well, but still usable.

Cool, thanks.

Does anybody know of a Bible app that can be installed via iBricker that will put an icon on my homescreen? I only have a real desire for three apps...

1. Bible Reader/Study
2. Money Management
3. Fitness

Posted by: Chingwa

don't know of an installable app, but there's a web app.... goto readscriptures.com

Thanks, but I am going to wait for an installable app with a screen icon rather than a bookmarked web URL...

There's bound to be one soon from someone like Olive Tree or something.

Why not install Books.app and then get an ebook version of the Bible. Use Installer.app to install it easily.

http://code.google.com/p/iphoneebooks/

This app has turned my iPhone into my book reader as well.

Cheers!
