I was attempting to downgrade my software and had problems. Now i am trying to just get it working again. I backed up my phone before i started.
Phone now says
FLASHStrap
FS85v00.11
128F640W18-ROM4
Code Corrupt:
Ready to program
I can start loading the backup file from IDEN Update, but when i get to write phone software on about the 5th bar it locks up and says Programming error with a popup box. Basically saying it may be writing to fast i have tried from 16x to 1x and nothing works. I can type all it says if need be.
Worst thing is i let a friend mess with it while i was at work, he claimed he could do this succesfully. This is my business phone so any help would be much appreciated to just get it back to working.
Thanks!

i had the same problem...thought i killed my phone, kept tryin and it never worked..so then i tried doing it with NO OTHER APPLICATIONS OPEN ON UR COMPUTER....JUST LIKE THE POP UP MESSAGE SAYS TO DO WHEN IT BEGINS....and then it worked and i was full of relief...im not saying u did it with other progz open but i usually never listen to programs when it says to close all other apps....give it a try...havin other apps open interferes with writting info to the phone..(my theory)...good luck it may work it may not work...u ahve nothing to lose...if that doersnt work try and do it on another computer if u can or ask around the forum to see if anyone has a combined upgrade utility...alot of people have said that this works...i dot knwo where to get it but someone has it......best of luck bro

. Try to use a different computer. Some laptops or old PCs do have serial communications and they are not reliable for iupdate.
Or
. Find i95cl UU, it will certainly fix your problem w/o any problems. I don't know where you can get it, but someone may know.

Hmm i did have tons of apps open at first (i ignore those warnings also =p).
I did try it again with everything closed though.
I am using a laptop, my home computer only has windows 98 though thought i read somewhere it would not work with that?
Thanks anymore info will be much appreciated.

Never, ever ever use a laptop with iDEN Update unless you are certain of the quality of said laptop. There are very few retail level laptops out there that are appropriate at the hardware reliability / performance level for embedded systems reprogramming (which is what iDEN Update does...)
As for iDEN Update. RSS will work on Windows 98 if you have the serial (RS-232) cable. It may support the USB cable as well, but I believe that USB is only officially supported on Windows 98 Second Edition and above.
The problem is... If you were to try to restore that backup image from your laptop to your home computer, you will have a few files to copy over...
Essentially, install iDEN Update on your home computer, and copy over the subdirectories User, Backups, and Software from your laptop's iDEN Update installation to your home computer's iDEN Update installation.
You could also use the i95CL upgrade utility, which will re-flash your phone with the latest software. Don't ask me where to find it. A little digging should turn it up.
Rest assured: Your phone is not dead... It's just... Sleeping. It can be recovered, and it's not even hard to do so. You are simply dealing with a minor hardware / software issue. Keep trying and you'll get it. As an absolute last resort, carry it into a service center and they will be able to recover it for you for a maximum of $35. (I think...)
