I used to have a blackberry 8700R and when the screen dims and you need it brighter, you can press the top button to light up the screen.

with the curve, it seems to do it automatically. its usually pretty dim and at times it lights up. Does anyone know how you can adjust the brightness and make it brighter because ive set the brighter to 100 and its dim.

or is the curve lighting automatic and the screen will light up according to the condition of the lighting in the room.

You could try disabling Automatic Backlight under Options...Screen/Keyboard.
