Buh bye indirect, hello COR.

So I haven't been offered the job yet, but with 2 years with indirect, ridiculously good numbers, and an interview that lasted an hour and 15 minutes I think I FINALLY can get out of indirect.

I am taking a step down as far as titles go, but I'm moving into one of the busiest stores in the TN/KY area (again, assuming this interview went as well as I believe it did), so even with the assumed pay cut I should have more than enough opps available to make more at the COR location.

Only slight hiccup would be the background check (3 misdemeanors) but they were 5 years ago, so as long as I'm honest I should be good to go there, right?

Yeah, you're probably in. If the SM didn't want you, you'd probably be out the door at the 30 minute mark. And, no, the misdemeanors won't matter unless they're petty theft or something loss-prevention would be interested in. Most of us know reps with DUI's, a felony, and they still got hired. However, when you get the BC application, you need to be completely honest about any open cases on your record and closed cases you have as an adult. They'll reject you for withholding, even if the crime is like jay-walking.

Okay, maybe not jay-walking, but you get the idea. Be honest.

Well lets see, someone gave me a forged check, I got stuck with the penalty for it. Paid it off, no jail time, unsupervised probation. Probation ended Nov 6th 2003, so I have to wait one more year to get that wiped.

Second was unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. I joy rode in a campus police officers golf cart, got nailed for it.

Third was a bounced check I neglected...Paid it off, nothing other than a fine.

Still think I'm good?

Good god, I HATE to sound like a bright eyed noob, but they removed the position from the website so I know they've made thier decision. I REALLY want them to just get it over with and call me.

I cannot stand waiting.

The hire process is long. HR likes to take its sweet time.

Eh, found out yesterday they gave the position to someone else.

I interviewed with the ASM, and the SM interviewed someone else. Apparently since I didnt speak with the one that had tenure and he liked his guy, I got the shaft.

But apparently they are requisitioning another position in a month and I'm on top for that.

God this sucks.

elushon, I feel your pain.

I hate waiting too, but in my case I only have to wait out the weekend. I start training this Tuesday, and I've been waiting (including interviews, drug test, background, blahzeblahz) for over a month.

More than likely they wont hire you due to the bad check thing in your history - many companies wont these days because of that. Its often a sign of theft/fraud. I'm not saying it is in your case - but I will never hire anyone that has bad checks come back on a background check.

Well, I'm using this time to get those expunged from my record, both the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and the bad checks are over 6 years old so I can pony up 50 bucks and get both of those wiped.

So that leaves me with the forged check I got stuck with...and that was 5 years ago, but I had to wait till 5 years after my probation ends to remove that, which is November 6th of 2008.

Either way my RAE said if it came down to it, he can't and won't officially recommend me for the position due to conflict of interest, but he can off the record tell them that I know my stuff, and attest to character. So I think I'm pretty much in as soon as this position opens.
