i think i did everything right to get the iphone contact manager on my phone when i go to contacts i can flick and scroll through the contacts but how do i get it set up so i can just click on the person name and call from there instead of having to go back to the dialpad and typing in the number

all you should have to do is tap the contact that you want to call.

I know you probably want to be as close to the iPhone as you can get but try PocketCM @ http://www.pocketcm.com/dl.php. It does the finger flick thing too and the newer version as built-in threaded SMS
