Unlocked Pearl can't text? Help!

Hi all, i just recently unlocked my pearl and switched companies from Rogers to Fido, while porting in my number. But the problem lies in where I can't text out, it says "Network out of order"
Is there some settings I need to change or does porting my number effect the texting?
