When you reset or reboot the OS but dont loose any information(phone or SD card) or personal configurations/settings that have been stored vs hard reset when you loose all information stored(in phone memory) and go back to default settings. To soft reset your 8525, simply pull out your stylus and look @ the bottom part of your 8525 and use the tip of the stylus to press in the hole the looks like a circle NOT an oval.

Or a warm boot; hold down the power button and you'll get a message on the screen, just say yes. Hold the power button down again to turn it on!
