The iphone looks very cool to me. Id love to snag one up off the apple refurb store where the 4gb is going for 399.99 which isn't too bad. I currently have tmobile myfaves with the unlimited sms messaging plan. I was wondering if at all or maybe its impossible, can anyone think of any way to get an unlocked iphone working with the myfaves service? I mean would any be willing to write some software thats like the myfaves software or something along those lines. I realize its probably for now until something comes from Apple and Tmobile, a pretty impossible thing to do, but I've heard some pretty impossible things happening as of late so who knows.

Doesnt "My Faves" automatically give you unlimited to 5 numbers? I think T-Mobile will still give you unlimited minutes to those 5 numbers, it's just a billing issue. What you won't have is the 5 pictures/icons of the people on your homescreen. I'm not sure exactly how my faves work but I would think they just don't bill you for those certain numbers called?

you can still have "My Faves" on a phone not equipped with the My Faves Java App. You'll just have to setup your 5 via your MyTmobile account online.

It will still work on the iphone. you just can't change your myfavs. You'll have to call tmo cust service or do it online

Thanks for all your suggestions and help. I guess I should have thought of that anyways that Tmobile would still allow the picked numbers to be unlimited calling no matter if you had the Java app or not. Thanks though anyways, I should be getting an iPhone soon enough and then I'll get it unlocked.

I'm in the same situation. I'm getting an IPhone that will be unlocked and will be using it on my T-Mobile Family Plan w/MyFaves. I talked to a T-Mobile representative today that said that unlocked/non-branded T-Mobile phones can't communicate with T-Mobile's network to reference the numbers that are in a cell phone's MyFaves plan.

As far as I know (I don't have T-Mobile) that's not true. It's a service specific feature, not a phone feature. From what I've read, you (obviously) won't be able to view who your faves on your phone, but you can set them in your account settings online.
