Can you turn off teh Blackberry EXTRA fee and not pay any fees?

I saw the sticky at top so I know many people have a blackberry phone without the extra blackberry service.

If I ordered 2 BB's from amazon with the family plan could I just tell them to turn the BB part off after a month and not have to pay any fees after I get the phones?

Thanks

I think you should read the fine print. If I am not mistaken, you have to leave everything as is for 6 months or you will be charged full price for the devices.

The fine print says and read #4 carefully:

Conditional $250 Equipment Discount Included: Your price paid includes an equipment discount of $250 that has been provided to you in exchange for either activating a new, non-substitute line of service or renewing an existing line of service with AT&T and your agreement that for the 181-day period following such activation or renewal you will: (1) pay your balance due to AT&T each month and otherwise maintain your account in good standing; (2) not disconnect this AT&T line of service; (3) not transfer this equipment to another AT&T line of service; (4) not change your AT&T service rate plan to a lower monthly service rate--this includes canceling or removing required PDA, BlackBerry, or smartphone features after your product has shipped; (5) not use this line of service to replace an existing account with AT&T. If these conditions are not met, you hereby authorize Amazon.com to charge your credit card $250 as reimbursement of this equipment discount without need for further approval.

You don't get (nor do you deserve) anything because you didn't bother to read the contract you agreed to and later found out you couldn't wiggle out of it.

Yea seems it is a no go on that.

My last hope is I can get a ATT store to pricematch newegg and get the phones without the BB extras. Newegg does not require you to sign up for the BB plan but still get the phones for free.

So do the ATT stores pricematch others? I did this with suncom but not ATT/Cingular.

Thanks

I wish I could be there to see the look on the agents face when you ask him to price match to lower the price on a contract YOU have already signed!

When will people realise that the reason you are getting the phone for less that FULL list is because they want you to abide by the contract? You people act like they are cheating you of something because they really DO want to you to live up to your word!

No I have not signed up for anything. I want to pricematch AND sign up at the ATT store (2 year plan). Not sure if ATT stores do that???

Thanks

You will find the AT&T stores not very flexable. I am positive they do not price match. Without signing a contract expect to pay full price for your handheld. Some will even try to charge $50 over that!

Yea thats what I have been reading. Seems most will pricematch local stores but even then that is hit or miss.
I don;t see why they don;t being that ATT has to pay others to sell their stuff. Thought it be cheaper to sign up direct? Guess not.

But Letstalk has the 8100 for $99 without a BB plan and the Blackjack free without a plan so I guess we will go that way tonight.

thanks
