Has Anyone replaced their antenna cover?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am thinking of replacing my scratched antenna cover and there is a web site which shows instructions. It doesn't look too hard if you have the proper tools.

The web site is:

http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPhone/105/

Has anyone dealt with ifixit.com?

Thanks for any comments.

what questions?

that link is as simple and in detail as possible...I used their guide to take apart my ibook g4 and ipod video

My antenna cover is starting to squeak very slightly, depending on where I hold it. Not a good sign

Well I replaced mine but I noticed when I speak into the phone others say I'm way too loud and distorted.

When I look at the antenna cover that came with the phone you can see these adhesive coverings where the mic sits on the inside of the cover which doesn't come with the replacement cover, so I'm wondering if i have to take these screens off and glue them into the replacement cover maybe to muffle some of the distortment... I can't find a straight answer.

Take it into the genius bar and tell them you have a defective speaker. They'll confirm and either repair or replace your unit on spot. But I do noticed you've unlocked your iphone. So you might be out of luck if you can't revert back to factory.

yes you should replace those screens they are there to reduce wind noise and keep dust and dirt out

I'm going to be replacing mine soon. I took it off in an attempt to replace the bezel, which I gave up on. Now, my antenna cover is bent and scratched. By the way, it's a pain in the arse to get the damn thing off.

What helped me, I picked up a couple of iPhone opening tools at ifixit.com they tell you which ones to buy for certain tasks. Good luck.

I did get those tools. I ordered the antenna cover from them. Didn't help me very much.
