Best reception of the following phones?

Of the following GSM phones, which has the best reception in low-signal areas? (Or, which is best at placing and receiving calls in areas with one or less bars of signal?)

We moved 2 blocks from our old house (which used to get 2 bars constantly), and at our new house, we are lucky to get 1 bar on the main floor or even in our front or back yard, and even at that, the Nokia 6101's we have cannot place a call. Upstairs, we MIGHT get 2 bars, and even then, about 1/2 of the time we are unable to place or receive a call.

The phones we are considering are:
- Motorola K1 KRZR
- Motorola RAZR V3t
- Sony Ericsson w810i
- Sony Ericsson w300i

Those are listed in order of our preference (looks, mainly). But the KRZR will cost us $50 each and the w810i $40 each. The other two should be free after some negotiating.

What's your pick based PURELY ON RECEPTION IN LOW-SIGNAL AREAS WHERE OUR NOKIA 6101's ARE FAILING?

Thanks!
Eric

nokias and motorolas tend to be the best.

But MY Nokias (6101's) seem to be good but not great. I need great for the street I live on.

Would the RAZR be better than the 6101?

in general, they do tend to be better overall. the 6101 that you got may well be a semi-lemon for reception.
in low signal areas, i would trust almost any moto against a sony ericsson any day. nokias are a close 2nd. and samsungs aren't very god in low signal areas.

W300i has very good reception and the W810i is not that far behind. I would get the W810i though because of form factor and features.

Razr and Krzr have the best reception. Hands-down. But they're definately less durable than the sony's and nokia's.

We ended up getting KRZR's for free as a hardware upgrade after a LOT of persuasion (err... negotiation).

Somewhat better but still disappointing. It's gotta be the tower being blocked by the massive stand of trees near me, and I guess my friends' KRZR was on 'roids that day or something! LOL!

Oh well, kickass phone + free = happy.
