BJ Internet settings

On my blackjack, if I set the IE connections options to auto detect, I can use activesync passthrough internet connection. But when I want to use the EDGE internet connection, I have to turn the auto detect back off to get it to work.
Is there any way to not need to change this setting every time I change connections?
