8525 Now, What Next?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

So I currently have an 8525 and I am getting pretty tired of it. Not only is it locking up once a day and very sluggish, it no longer rings, vibrates, or shows of a new message.

I am looking for a phone with threaded SMS, web capabilities, and a full QWERTY keyboard. Touch Screen is a MUST as I have become so accustom to having it and love using it .

What have previous 8525 users moved to now?

THank you!

Hmm, doesn't touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard pretty much limit you to a treo in the USA? Or the successor to the 8525, the 8925..

There are more phones in europe that fit that profile but they lack 850mhz..

the 8925 will be the next HTC model that AT&T will carry within the next few months (hopefully). it very impressive, by the looks of it plus the touch screen tilts forward like the older two way messagers years back. i think that it'll be worth the wait.

seems like my only choice is the treo 750 or the iPhone. I think as of right now I am going to get the treo 750.

I honestly can not wait much longer, and knowing cingular it will be another 3-4 months before it is released. I can say that I am not impressed with the products that HTC is sold. I primarily want a GOOD phone. One that sounds great and sounds good on the recieving side for the person listening. 8125 and 8525 have not done this.

The iPhone doesn't fit your profile, though. It has an on screen keyboard, not a QWERTY keyboard. Pretty significant difference.

But its the iPhone aka the best phone ever!!!
No I am just kidding, I am not a fan of the iPhone.
Anyways, I suggest you hard reset your 8525, but sync your contacts to outlook first.

I have done hard resets, didnt do anything. It is more hardware then it is software.

There is a connection inside the 8525 that can come loose very easy and will stop the ringing. Search around and you may find it. Took like 10 mins for me to pop mine back in and the phone has been working great ever since.

Try pressing on the back cover with the phone on and see if it starts making noises agian. That's how I figured out it was just a connection. There is information on it in one of my posts if you feel like looking

i would say just do a warrenty exchange...i've had that issue with one and got a new one and it's a lot better...honestly, IMHO, you'll feel crippled if you go into anything else, thats if you use the 8525 to it's full potential...the 8525 does/has so much more than other phones in it's class that cingular has to offer...

I had the 8125 and upgraded to 8525. But I am tired of its thickness and loose slideout keyboard. Bought a Treo 750 and it's every bit as good as 8525, but easier to use and more stable on WM6. Fits in my pocket better too. Unfortunately the wife liked it too so it has become her primary phone.

i have hads the 8125, then jumped to the blackjack, now on the 8525 att branded. its a small computer, with lots of tyhings constantly running, it is a great powerhouse of features, but it is not your regular run of the mill phone. i had the ppc 6700 with sprint and really enjoyed it, when i went from sprint to cingular i found the 8525 to be better ins ervice and features. i doubt the kaiser will really attract that many new customers, but for what i need the ppc has much more to offer than the treo.
