WM5 or WM6 for S620?

So since the WM6 upgrade is posted on the HTC website now, should we upgrade to WM6 or stay with the trusty WM5? These are a few of my concerns before upgrading.

Looking to hear from people who have upgraded on the HTC S620, not the dash...

Any new programs added or programs removed from WM5?
Does the Joggr function the same as on WM5?
Do all WM5 programs work on WM6, such as Registry editors and file managers?
Do contacts and calendar sync the same way as WM5 using Outlook2003+Vista?
Better battery life: WM5, WM6, or No Difference?
Better response running programs: WM5, WM6, or No Difference?
Better reception: WM5, WM6, or No Difference?
Better voice quality: WM5, WM6, or No Difference?
Better bluetooth sound quality: WM5, WM6, or No Difference?

sounds like you want someone to do a whole write up for you!

its a great rom. check it out if you want... you can always go back to wm5 if for some reason you don't like it.

i have it on the dash so you probably don't want to hear from me anyway.

there are tons of posts already about which programs don't work on wm6 and what programs are included. htc does not include voice command, live search or office on the official release.

response is better.

reception and voice quality are subjective and vary by location. seems to be slightly better.

haven't tested bluetooth.

Thanks for the response and info. It definitely helps. If it does not work out to be better, does anyone have the HTC WM5 rom download?

They include them on the Dash update but not the official s620 update? Strange...

wm5 is stone age compared to wm6

Hi,

One thing i've noticed and was huge, is that with wm6 installed, i get MUCH better Wi-fi connections to my router both at home and work. Less disconnections, and oddly, better distance.

Really weird, with WM5, I had to be IN the same room where the router was. If i walked away, next room over, I would have horrible connection issues (if any at all). Now, seems great, all my house etc...weird but happy as hell

get a program called Spritebackup (search for torrents ) and backup your WM5 ROM. then upgrade to WM6 and see how you like it. if it doesnt work for you or dont like it for some reason then just reinstall WM5 and restore all your data. you wont lose anything but just some time....

that would be your best bet.

I upgraded to WM6 the minute i took my DASH out of the box (i believe always having the latest software is best) so i cant say i have any experience with WM5 but WM6 works perfectly for me without any problems and i have a crap load of software and tweaks on it.

As far as differences: WM6 includes WORD, EXCEL (u can edit them too), better wifi, suppose to be more stable, etc

orlee, i was reading this thread.. i dl spritebackup! does that also when backing up include your current rom too? mine came to 14mb.. i have a few programs that are installed on the device? i just want to make sure before i try the updated htc rom..

yeah spritebackup backs up EVERYTHING, settings, adjustments and all...

go ahead and install your WM6 rom now. you wont loose a single thing.

thanks for the response back.. much appreciated

it does not back up your rom though. you need to have a copy of the ruu in order to flash back.

I upgraded to WM6 and it improved wifi and some other things but my battery life has pretty much gone to nothing which only started when I upgraded to WM6
