Blackjack 14 days of standby vs 2 days

A few moths ago, I purchased a Samsung Blackjack, expecting to consolidate to a single device from the phone+pda devices I have carried for years. I'm a light cell phone user, and was extreemly dissapointed to find my new BJ would only last 2 days on a battery change. My pda goes a month and my 3 year old Moto phone goes a week.

After some careful investigation, I figured out my BJ actually can go for 14 days of light use, with the extended battery. The thing that destroys battery life is putting the phone in it's ATT slide on leather case. It turns out that with the extended battery, the extra thickness causes the case to squeeze the BJ enough to hold down keypad buttons all the time. It also turns out that even with the keypad locked, holding down a button consumes battery power, causing 7X shorter battery life.

My guess is I'm not the only person this effects, and unless you do some careful testing, there is no way to know it's happening, other than your battery life is terrible.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia 6620: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.8993/58; U; en))

Then get a different case. Sounds like that's your problem, not the phone.

Or you can lock the keypad when not in use.

Ok ... Do away with the case altogether.

I'm definitely seeing this issue with the OEM Samsung case

Can anyone recommend a leather pouch with a swivel (or at least horizontal layout) clip that is designed for the Extended battery?
