Part Time RSC's

Do you ever get 4 days off during the week? I work and go to school, and I was talking to my manager about my schedule.

In the conversation she said you can't have 4 days off during the week, that's not happening.

I mean I don't see the logic in this? If I work 3 days, get 24 hours of work in, How can that not be acceptable? I mean she has me working 4 days and it adds up to 25 hours...when it could be 3 days that adds up to 24 hours.

I don't see the damn logic?

It has to do with scheduling during peak times. Part time employees are ideal for short shifts, such as 4-6 hours in length. Part time employees are generally utilized to fill in short-term predicted traffic "bursts". If you're only working 3 days, then you're probably working too long on those days (eg: overstaffing the store during non-peak times), and leaving some peak times on the 4th day uncovered.

I see...are you part time?

well you shouldnt be scheduled less than 29 hours anyways, but it is about the peak times that they ahve to have you scheduled.

I was hired for 25 hours and my manager jerks me around so much it's not funny some weeks he puts me on for 38 hours and others, like this week he schedules me for 15, 5 3 hour days, it's stupid.

That's weak...I'd be hella pissed. For me, thats a waste of gas...do you go to school too?

i do agree that some managers dont know how to schedule. Like mine for instance just LOVES to schedule me to work while im at school. It would be awesome if they had a RET class for scheduling and send them to "scheduling" class that they ahve to drive 2 - 3 hours to get to.

i've gone through hell and back my damn self regarding scheduling. i'm a part time sales consultant and full time student. i've given my manager my school schedule for the semester ahead of time and she still doesn't get it right, as for those RET classes or data trainings, it sucks because i have to miss class for a stupid 8 hr. class on complete B.S.

my manager schedule me for closing shifts and i like it because its busy and i make the majority of my features and activations during these hours. its better than sitting at your register all day waiting for customers and doing dumb little projects to occupy your time.

I would never miss class to go to training. I don't even think they can do that since you're scheduled for school. My manager at least has this part down...
