problem playing videos in iPhone

Last night I took the plunge and bought an iPhone. This morning, before leaving for work, I upgraded iTunes (Macintosh version) to 7.4 and synchronized my videos to the iPhone. Some of them play flawlessly, while others show strange artifacts along the right side of the screen (when holding the phone in landscape mode), and others play just the audio, with no video. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there a fix? Thanks much.

I have experienced that myself too, but I don't think it's the phone's fault. I think the reason behind that is because either the video format was coverted wrong, the video itself is too large to shrink down (I did it with a 1600x1800 video, it did the artifact thing on the right side), or the video converter is maulfunctioning. I have converted at least a handful of videos / movies and almost all of them came out flawlessly except the ones with the bigger resolution.

when i first got the phone my question was why do my podcasts play audio only and I was told it plays audio only under coverflow and you have to click at the bottom, while holding the phone rightside up, click on videos and view them from there.

hope this helps a little. I'm thinking the video fractioning is an encoding issue and not a phone issue. If it was the phone it would do it on EVERY video.

Thanks for your explanation, but I'm still confused about one thing here. The videos that don't show correctly, or at all, on the iPhone all seem to work fine on my iPod Video. Do I have to re-convert videos that work fine on the iPod Video so that they'll also work on the iPhone?
