Blackjack problems

My Cingular branded Blackjack seems to be delaying text messaging and doubling them. Would that be a network or a phone problem? As well as the Blackjack cannot make calls very well in "fringe" areas while some other phones have had no problem. I'm just wondering because I love my Blackjack but if it's delaying text messages and I cannot receive calls clear then it will have to go. I hope i have given enough information.
