i just received my iphone today and am in the process of setting it up. i'm currently attempting to configure my e-mail accounts and chose yahoo because of the push factor. my question is how do i activate the push e-mail for the iphone? i've been sending my self emails but i still have to pull them and i have also yet to receive any e-mail i've sent from the iphone. how can i resolve this problem? any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have to set the iphone to auto check your mail to get it "pushed?"

If so, make sure you don't have it set to manual. Set it to check, 15, 30, or 1 hour. Keeping in mind that it will wear down your battery faster.

Right now, when I need to check email, I do it manually.

I ran into the same thing and never did figure it out. I just decided to go with my G-Mail account as it works better with Blogger. When I had Yahoo! setup it got email something like on a five minute delay. I didn't have to do anything special other than put the info into the phone.

If Yahoo IMAP is the only email account on the iPhone the option to set how often it checks mail will not be there because it's supposed to be push email. If you have another account on the iPhone then setting will not your Yahoo account. I have .Mac and Yahoo on mine and set to manually check, the push email works great sometimes and is horrible during others. For the most part I get messsages that are sent to Yahoo with 5-10 minutes of time they were sent, but other times it will take all day.

push for yahoo mail on my iphone works quite well... usually get email within 1 minute... 2 at most... i have 2 yahoo accounts setup on my iphone (just regular, not yahoo plus or anything like that... and straight from yahoo... not through at&t or other 3rd party)... nothing else... and there is not option for how often it checks or to manually check...

i had a couple of gmail accounts setup too... but the way gmail is handled on the iphone sucked so badly i removed those accounts from the iphone... yahoo mail for me worked much MUCH better on my iphone...

(one thing to note... i do have my yahoo email accounts setup to use the newish (it's been out for like a year) 'yahoo mail beta' when i access them from a web browser on a pc... great interface actually! i know it's just an interface chance, but perhaps it's why yahoo mail on my iphone works so well??... anyone know if yahoo mail beta also changes something internally on the server side compared to the regular yahoo mail interface (the old style)??)

cheers

Anybody know if the new yahoo beta version has any effect on the push email issue?

I love imap on yahoo, just wish Gmail would allow it as it's my main email account.

I have been using AOL's email, the push e-mail and folder sync is great. Not had a single issue with it.

I was just going to ask if aol had push mail, since I get my emails right away and my saved folders are on there also.

Anyone know if there is IMAP support for ATT/SBCGLOBAL accounts? Anytime I try to setup as a yahoo account it rejects because it insists on an @yahoo.com address instead of @sbcglobal.net address.

Go ahead and use the Yahoo IMAP setup and type your email address "on top" of yahoo.com. For example: johndoe@sbcglobal.net@yahoo.com. This works...
