I just bought my iphone today and I’ve had nothing but issues trying to get ringtones on the phone and changing the SMS and Voicemail Alerts. I have both Windows Vista and MacBook Pro. I tried iBrickd and ifuntastic on their respective OS's and they do not work. Apparently, these programs do not work with the new 7.4.1 itunes and the 1.0.2 firmware. I have been searching the forum and the internet for the past 8 hours trying to figure out how to do get into the iphone because NOTHING IS WORKING!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!! I have never been so frustrated with a piece of technology and hoping that one of you fine board members could shed some light at the end of this tunnel. Thanks.

er ... one is not meant to hack/modify the iphone. why not simply enjoy what you already have got on the phone?

maybe becauuse the SMS alert and voicemail alert sucks. I've seen numerous articles about how others have gotten their phones to be customized. I would not call myself a N00b per say, i've hacked my Razr to pieces before the switch to the iphone...

...i know sooner of later there will be updates for the phone and software thats out now...

well now you know what can happen when you try to hack something. Anyway of you search you will find a way to roll back itunes to a version that works with your hacks and in the future don't dl a new version until you know it works.

doesn't look like it's has 7.4.1 yet. I cannot test it yet because i am away from my own PC and i forgot to bring the dock to work with me.

I get to the last step, where the shackle has a 1 and it's quoted "the eagle has landed" from there the phone does nothing and the program keeps timing out. When that happens, i restart the iphone and it somewhat works, two times it didn't but one time it did. On that one time it did, the program said that the phone was unshackled but had to restart. When i did that, the program would freeze and on that restart of the program, it would say that my phone is shackled.

So i guess in the end. The phone is not restarting on the last step of the unshackling.

Revert back to iTunes 7.4 and use iFuntastic 2.5

a) why don't you use ifuntastic 3? It's 100x easier
b) if you just want ringtones, why not use itoner (free for 30 days).

a) if you read the previous post, i cannot get ifuntastic to work with my macbook. if there is a solution to get past the last step, that would be cool

b) will itoner changes my SMS and Voicemail alert? Thats most important right now, i need to have MSG Codec and LOZ Alert!

can you post a picuture of the error? if you are trying to using iFuntastic 3.0 then we are in the same boat, I couldn't get past the last step so I'm using iFuntastic 2.5

there isnt an error message per say. the phone and program does its thing until the last step and then it doesnt say for me to do anything and that the phone will restart. But the phone still has the triangle ! with not reload apple circle thing. Then the program just stops working because the phone isnt unshackled and youre back to step one...

im trying to follow this guide, but...it says on the one step to use the firmware link for 1.0.1. Even though my phone is 1.0.2, i still use the old firmware files or should i wait for an updated way to do that?

last night i tried it on the MacBook and i got an error in the terminal after i ran the ./jailbreak and it said something about being an error and went back to the phonedmg root...

I tried several times with iFuntastic 3.0 but I couldn't get past the last step either and I've had to do a full restore. I'm sticking with 2.5 and I've got .install app on it and it works great.

whats your firmware? 1.0.1 or 1.0.2? im guessing youre using the itunes 7.3?

Ha...if things couldn't be any worse. I tried your advice (loveanh) to download 2.5 ifuntastic and my macbook pro is giving me errors that the dmg file cannot be mounted. WTF!?

im in the same boat all around except my phone isnt activated, i used iActivator and use it as an ipod, email, browser, best pda ever, camera etc..

But I get the same time out message in iFun.. Its a ***** to downgrade itunes in osx... Any easier way to get an nes sim installed?

Also when using iActivator with no service provider, youtube doesnt work... People keep speaking of this youtube hack... Anyone heard of this?

I assume you use mac??
If so, you should use iNdependence 1.2.1a to activate because this program also activate youtube for you...

If you already activate your iphone using other programs, just run the iNdependence 1.2.1a and deactivate it and reactivate it using iNdependence... simplest thing i can think of

an update for me...if anybody cared...lol

i used a simple dos hack from http://www.hacktheiphone.com/ and it worked. I have loaded all my ringers, cut them from audacity using the "what u hear" feature from my audacity. I also loaded all of the nes games, pain in the ***, but worked. you have to create the folders first then load through the dos prompt "putfile /var/root ..."

ibrikr still doesnt work, so this is the best i can do really....i cant wait for a firmware that works on speaker volume. That's my only beef is that i needs to be louder.

For future modding issues, I would recommend modmyiphone.com. It's a whole lot more helpful for modding than this website is.
