I've been going back and forth with another member over on a macrumors iphone forum regarding this issue.

Some people have stated that they still receive voicemail notification with their iphone despite not being on the regular iPhone data plan.

Are these "hacked" iphones that bypasses activation and are still able to receive new voicemail notification (I know there's no visual voicemails)

Or are these iPhones where you "legally" activated your iPhone via iTunes and than switched to media max. This is the method I used. I do not receive any form of voicemail notification. It's no big deal to me. I don't consider my method as a hack.

I think it's a better idea to say legitimately activated instead of illegally activated. But from reading the other threads this seems to be the case.

Yeah, your the second person I've seen that called it illegal. Its not illegal to unlock it...

And I get vmail notifications just fine.

i bypassed 2 iphones and both get voicemail notifications.

unlocked a few.. all the same.. works fine as normal

1. Activated ATT regular phone
2. Few days later bought iphone and activated normally
3. A month later (now), switched to media max

-If it makes any difference, I have used iFuntastic 3.03 and I have firmware 1.02
- I DO NOT GET VOICEMAIL NOTIFICATIONS !

wait - no voicemail notifications whatsoever? or just not visual voicemail? because no voicemail notifications at all would be pretty ridiculous...

No voicemail notifications WHATSOEVER!

Some people here who have media max have said that they DO get notifications...

Can these people tell us if they have:
1. Latest firmware
2. Used ifuntastic
3. Anything else useful?
