Should the Treo 680 headset/mic jack work with most 2.5mm plug headsets?

I recently got the only 4 conductor stereo headphone+mic set I could find around here and it happens to be a Samsung. When plugged into fully, I only get sounds from one earpiece. When plugged into my wifes Nokia, it works great.

Is there something different about the 2.5mm jack on the Treo 680? Or is it likely a problem with my Treo itself.

I've been having that problem too. From poking around online I think it's a hardware issue with our Palm headset jacks.

If you find anything different, please post back?

I just purchased a 2.5mm> 3.5mm adapter to I can use all of my headphones. I also have a pair of wireless logtiech bluetooth headphones which are very nice when walking down a busy street. heh

I'm able to use a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter just fine.. Not a stereo headset/mic combo with a 2.5mm plug, which is more convenient for me.

oh so you want a combo music headset and mic for chatting... hmm, I just use the one that came with my Treo. I remember they gave me a Music Pack.

I'd for sure check out Palm's offerings, I heard they have a nice new one! I might invest in one since I am using my Treo for music more and more recently.
