They wouldn't know who you are, per se, but if you have a work email address they would know by the "@workname.com" whether that company participates or not.

Entering your personal email address won't do anything for you.

Mostly some copy & pasting of some of more relevant information from Premier. I'm willing to keep this update accordingly if needed and/or desired.

Thanks, should be a good resourse for all the "how do I get premier" questions.

I was wondering, if you're just upgrading, why do you need to do anything more than just pop your existing sim card in the charged phone and go?

Posted by: dscline

This is probably a dumb question, but how do I get a login to log in to the premier site? My company has a FAN discount, and I was able to do the online validation to get the discount applied to my account. But I don't have a log-on id for that site. The log-on for my acount page doesn't work there.

you should have been sent a login link to your registered email after they confirmed your account for Premier.

You can but your account will have a notice of Pending Upgrade or Upgrade In Progress until you follow the upgrade validation steps sent to you with your new phone. You may not be able to use the Premier site with that upgrade line again until this is completed. When you attempt to log into Premier and upgrade any line on your account, you may receive the following message:
Quote:
Error: Unfortunately, your request for adding to or upgrading existing service cannot be completed online at this time. To complete your transaction over the phone, please call (800) 845-9681, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Hmmm, I got the initial email with the link to validate me, then after validation I got another email saying "congratulations", my valiation request had been processed. After that, I could see the discount in my online account, but that second email made no mention of a premier web site, nor any special user ID or anything.

Posted by: xj911

you could always do it the easy way, take your work ID to the nearest store and have them do it for you.

I have gotten the same email several times but I beleive since my corporate servers do not allow html email... several areas of graphics were missing and I assumed I was possibly not able to view the above provided information. I have even tried to forward these emails to my home address, but the missing page info was not allowed to pass.
I have always used
HTML Code:
www.cingular.com/benefits/(company name)
and just entered my zip, phone #, and account # and premier has allowed me to purchase roughly a dozen phones starting with the SX-66.
I tried to log onto Premier today using the above url and got the error message stating that the page didn't exist. Swapped ATT for cingular unsuccessfully. Page under reconstruction?

how do we upgrade without signing a new contract?

FWIW, we can receive html, but the emails I got didn't have anything relevant to help with the issues (just some images). However, I've had a strange issue: the discount and FAN account# that appeared in OLAM after I did the verification have disappeared... it's as if the discount I got a couple days ago has been revoked. Attempting to go through the same process I did to get them initially just gives me a message that the verification info has already been submitted for my acct. However, in my search for resolving this, I did come across a different web address of cigular.com/discounts which forwards to an appropriate at&t address, and brings me to a sign-up sheet that forwards me an email that now allows me to get into the premiere site (still no log-in or password, it's just a direct link, which when I follow it takes me to the premier site with my company info). So before, I got the discount, but couldn't get to the premier site, and now, I seem to have lost the discount, but can get to the premier site.

you can "try and see" if your contract gets extended through Premier (it's a crap-shoot) or purchase a phone at a non-discounted price.

i would call them and ask why your discount is not sticking.

i've had that happen to me. Premier blamed my server up and down all day long, but for whatever reason it was on their end. i just had them keep resending the emails until a link showed up or asked them to tell me the link over the phone... or i just logged in via the regular OLAM through shopping accessories.

hey, just wondering, but it seems like the phone prices are no cheaper than the regular website prices? i remember when i was with the old at&t, phones used to be like 50% off! thanks

I noticed the Base Price for phones through Premier are quite a bit more than the Base Price on the normal ATT site. For example: on normal ATT a Blackjack is $349.99 before any discounts but on Premier it is $439.99. After any discounts they are the same cost.

It seems to vary phone to phone though. Either way i'm just happy to be able to upgrade without extended contract.

Look up through my posts... exact same thing happened to me. But I later came across the cingular.com/discounts link, which when followed and filled out, resulted in me getting a different email than the two I got for the verification to get the discount. THAT email had a link to the premier site. No login info, it just goes straight there, and automatically recognizes my company.

And as I mentioned, the discount I got earlier in the week disappeared yesterday in OLAM. Today, it has re-appeared (with no additional action by me).

I believe that's what KB Toys thought before they were slapped with a class action lawsuit.

http://consumeraffairs.com/news03/kb_toys.html

How they arrived at those MSRP's I don't know, at least for me that renders my company's discount virtually useless. One benefit I like is the fact there are no rebate hassles when compared to the non-business side of the store.

I just got a new Treo 750 on the premier site for $99 and they credited me $25 for the online order.

I dont think you will get that price anywhere else!

The discounts link will apply the discount to your current accounts.

The premier link you get (its way down on the lower part of the email) is the link to the premier site. I dont know if that was an individual link or a generic one.

If you have not already found/tried this, here is the AT&T eligibility website which uses your email address to verify your company's access to the premier website. As already stated, they will immediately respond on the website with Congratulations! or not, message. Then send an email to your business address with a "Start Shopping" link both in HTML and graphic.
https://www.wireless.att.com/business/authenticate/
Worked great for me.

Posted by: dscline

Thanks Dickr, but I'm actually good now. But for what it's worth, I think that's the link I originally used. After putting in my email address, I got the "online validation process" email, with a link to click to "validate now" to continue the validation process. After that next validation process, I got the "Your AT&T Enrollment is now Complete, and Your Discount Has Been Applied" email, and at that point I could see the discount in OLAM. But the issue was, neither of those emails had a link or login info for getting to the premier site. It wasn't until I used the cingular.com/discounts link that I got an email titled "Discounts from AT&T" that has a link that gets me to the premier site.

Treo 750 on Premier Site
Base Price $999.99
Company Discount -$300.00
Web Discount -$300.00
Your Price* $399.99

Treo 750 on Regular Site
List Price $549.99
2-yr Contract Price $399.99
Mail-in Rebate Card - $150.00
*Online Price $249.99

Keep in mind that these are (at least on my screen right now) both for the 2-year jail term.

I'm all for a free market, but could ANYONE shed some light on what exactly AT&T is using to justify the extra $450 dollars tacked onto the base price on the Premier site? And do they honestly think people don't look between the two sites and wonder where the heck they are getting their figures?

One would imagine that the subsidized prices would be even lower, given the bigger data plan usage business users typically spend their dollars on....

Heck, they can't even justify the price of $999 for unsubsidized price as I can get an unlocked unit on ebay for under $500.00.

I certainly don't want to jump to the conclusion that something bad is going on, so if anyone can explain to me the business logic and case justification for this price difference, I would be interested in hearing it.

SpamMonster's KB Toys case certainly sets precedence for a Class lawsuit on these grounds. I'll archive a copy of the site tonight in case it turns out to be a good possibility.

For me, I would just rather see real prices and real discounts, not huge discounts on absurdly inflated prices that end up be no discount at all...

Posted by: TechGuy007

Is it possible that two separate business units handle the different areas of the site and don't collaborate on pricing? Sorry, just really struggling to figure this one out...

Maybe they are doing this to make the money back on the steep plan discounts they provide. I think I am getting a 30% discount on my monthly bill by being involved.

I'm sure there is something that explains this, but right now it looks like a racket.

Posted by: GearTripper

it's just the way things are. another thing to notice is that although each premier user supposedly gets different discounts and whatnot per their company agreement, we're all paying the same price for the phone in the end. they adjust the base price-point accordingly so that they get the same amount of money from anyone. it sucks, i know.

Posted by: blane64

I am late to the discussion....I made a comment about the "Premier" site on another thread, and someone directed me here. Certainly is interesting, huh? I am not really a bidness-man, but I understand about preferred customers, volume discounts, etc so I can understand a slight variation in prices...SLIGHT.

I wonder is those of us that have Premier access would go in and check pricing on the same model (8300 Curve??) and post what we get premier and generic web price. My zip code is 76502.

Premier:
Base Price$749.99
Company Discount-$337.50
Web Discount-$112.50
Your Price*$299.99

Generic:
List Price $449.99
2-yr Contract Price $299.99
Mail-in Rebate Card - $100.00
*Online Price $199.99
*2 yr contract-New service price

Wow, I sure am glad I was able to get the "Discount" due to my company affiliation! I might have wasted that $100 on something useless, like food...

I think I might just ask the sales person about those prices next time I am in the store..might be interesting to see what they say. Odds are, they will be clueless.....

Posted by: GearTripper

as i already mentioned, all premier accounts will receive the same end-price point. they just adjust the base price point higher or lower if necessary to account for different "discounts". it's the same on all phones no matter who you are or what company you work for.

You can send in the Mail-in Rebate card for premier orders even though it is not displayed on the premier pricing. Mail-in rebates are valid as long as your receipt does not show $0 for the total order.

Posted by: lew2

You're missing two pieces:

(1) With the "Generic" you still pay $300 up front and have to send in the rebate form to get your $100 gift card. Net price $200.

(2) Premier price is $300 without adding voice + data plan. Add those and the Premier price becomes $150. Many people have successfully sent in and obtained rebates for Premier purchased phones. In that event, net price becomes $50.

So what is the downside of "adding" a voiceplan during premiere checkout, if you already have a plan? If you pick a plan you already have, does everything just stay the same?

Posted by: ateganda29

hey guys! one thing i noticed, any maybe some of you has already, that although the prices of the phones on the premier website doesn't appeal to you because it's still expensive, it's not always the case.

if you click on 'current offers', that's where you'll see what discount is really out there for you. i'm not too sure about current at&t customers, but if you're transferring to at&t, go through the process of online ordering. at the check out, it'll show you how much you're actually paying.

for example, there's a current offer on blackberry curve for $99.99 with unlimited data and voice of at least $39.99. although the phone reflects the full price of say $449, if you go through the online ordering and choose your voice and data plan, at the end it'll reflect the $99.99 on the phone and discounted service plan.

goodluck!

***ooopps, sorry. didn't read lew2's full post -- see #2.

only your contract might get extended for another two years.

Posted by: blahblehblah

won't the contract extend anyway? whether you choose a voice plan or not..?
or well isnt the whole extension thing just a guess and check and luck method?
...

sometimes your contract will not get extended. it's a crap-shoot.

I'm getting ready to switch over to At&t from verizon, and I was wondering if it's possible to add a premier line to an existing non-premier family plan. I only ask this because the Tilt came out today on Premier, but it still hasn't shown up on the non-premier store (also, premier has other benefits)

It seems like it's possible from the main premier screen, but it doesn't let me add a single line. Instead, it only gives me options for full plans.

Posted by: Drait

While it doesn't always work, for those of us on FAN accounts, you can usually get the BEST pricing on handsets if you go into the retail stores and find one of the sales people to ring you up with your FAN equipment discount. The in-store MSRPs are always lower than the Premiere MSRPs. Just have the sales person look up your account, mention your FAN discount amount (they'll see it as well) and have them ring up your device.

I got the 8525 from the store this way for $599.99 MSRP - 50% = $299.98 OTD (minus tax). At the time, it was $1099.99 on Premiere, with like a $400 discount, and even the non-Premiere site showed it at $649 MSRP - $300 for various MIRs and web-only discounts.

Keep in mind that not all sales people will do this for one reason or another.

I'm using FAN on an existing contract. My question is, when my contract expires will I be able to use my employee discount on further contracts I pursue?

Yes. It continues so long as you maintain the relationship which qualified you for the FAN perks to begin with.

How would they find out if such a relationship had changed?

You told them.
Your employer/organization told them.
They asked for proof of association and you were unable to produce it.

Is this confirmed? I tried asking a few different reps on the phone today about the tilt and if I can use the rebates on the main site and more said no than yes. There reason was because premier and main site are two different things but a lot of them could not give me a reason why regular pda plans were not showing up on premier either so go figure...

What would cause the actual number (account number) of a FAN to change? Last month mine is different from when I just checked my OLAM screen this morning. I know the last number was in place for a very long time prior.

Maybe your company entered into a new contract with AT&T?

Posted by: CocheseUGA

Maybe someone can answer a question based on my situation:

I signed a two-year contract in June as an upgrade and got a Blackjack. Right now, I am on the MM200 plan.

I was thinking about doing the $99 8525 deal that requires Unlimited Internet. Upgrading to the PDA plan is fine, as with my new discount it would only be $5 more a month than without the discount. I also don't care if it extends my contract.

My question is, is that it says I'm eligible for the upgrade now, five months later. Is this true? I don't want to order the phone with the new plan and have them charge me the full price of the phone.

Are you on a Premier account? If so, depending on what your company has contracted with AT&T, you may be eligible to upgrade several times a year. If you are not on a Premier account, just add what you want and go checkout. The price in the checkout is what you will be charged. Now your order may get automatically canceled if in fact you cannot upgrade at this time. Just try it and see what happens.

Well, I'll be doing it in January once I get some Christmas funds.

Here's where it confuses me: when I go through OLAM (which has my FAN# listed at the top), it won't let me upgrade the phone. When I use the link for Premier I got in my email, I can. It's very confusing.

As I've said, I've not gone through the entire process to see if it will actually work, because I don't have the cash right now.

Posted by: ibcop

You could always call and see if you are eligible for an upgrade, that way you'll know for sure.

I understand where you're coming from. Your best bet is to try and order when you're ready. I just signed up, received my first phone with discount, then ordered another phone through premier and my phone was at my doorstep 2 days later. Upgrade date remained the same.

Hi,

I've had a Premier account for a while now, and my wife has an AT&T Wireless plan (i.e. before Cingular bought AT&T Wireless). We've been thinking of upgrading our phones and switching to a family plan. So a few questions to make sure I understand correctly:

1) Provided we do not get iPhones, I can merge her line into my account, drop her plan with the family plan, and get the Premier discounts, right? E.g. 550 family plan @ $59.99 - 17%
2) How do data plans fit in this picture? Are data plans discounted? Is it possible to get a data family plan and a discount? Or are data plans individual (i.e. per line)?
3) Were one of us to get an iPhone, how does that change the picture for the above 2 questions? I've heard somewhere that the iPhone cannot be the primary line or else you lose the Premier discount.
4) Finally, she has a NYC area code whereas I have a NJ area code. Will she have to get a new number or can we have 2 lines with different area codes under my Premier account.

Thanks for your help! You guys are a great resource.

When does the Premier site usually have price changes? I know a couple of years ago, I noticed that the prices tended to change on Friday afternoons (at least from what I could tell). For all I know, it could be completely random now.

I don't think AT&T Premier discounts PDA phones...

"AMD - Sponsorship Exclusive Offers
Contract Discounts
40% Equipment Discount
This is the amount you save on select equipment. The Equipment Discount is available on most voice devices, but is not available on wireless accessories, data-only devices, and most PDAs. Equipment Discount is available to you through your employer's qualified business agreement with AT&T. You must be a qualified employee or otherwise eligible to participate in your company's program in order to receive this benefit.

10% Service Discount
This is the amount you will save on your rate plan's Monthly Service Charge. AT&T offers a variety of service discount structures. The amount of your service discount, and the charges to which it applies, are all subject to the arrangement between your company and AT&T. Under some service discount structures, this discount may also be applied to other qualified charges as well. You should contact your management or the appropriate department within your company responsible for wireless program administration with questions on the specific discount available to you. Service discount is available to you through your employer's qualified business agreement with AT&T. You must be a qualified employee or otherwise eligible to participate in your company's program in order to receive this benefit.
"

Does anyone's discount vary? -- You find this information when you log into Premier, and click on "Current Offers"

Also, there are list of mail-in rebates under "Current Offers." There are many for PDAs too...

Posted by: OutPhase

My University discount is only 15% on service.

Posted by: krylon..

I read thorugh the entire post and didn't see any mention of this. I am going to switch from Verizon to AT&T. I am a USF student and can get the FAN discount... Which is sweet...

I was planning onordering my phone through Amazon though(hey, it's free compared to $199 on AT&T) and creating a new AT&T account. When I order the phone, I have to select plans and such. So once I get the phone, I imagine I will have to call AT&T to get it activiated(or have them send me a SIM) and then imagine they will apply my discounts.

That this sound right? Just want to make sure before I go ahead with it..

***EDIT*** I called a Premier Rep and she said the Premier discounts for my rate palns will be put into affect when I call AT&T to establish service after I order the equipment.

Posted by: att-guru-boy

no we have to attach the fan and technically students are not eligible but we can still attach, we have to fax in a form with a id so they won't take it off. it should be like 15% thats what college discounts usually are you just need a sim for the phone go to a store get one and have the rep put it to your line

Posted by: att-guru-boy

i do a lot of IRU FAN discounts in the carolinas and have dealt with USF before IRU means the company signs up for x amount of lines gets a CRU discount and those who attend or work there have the IRU as a benefit of working there, Individual responsible user of the company discount is all it means if you want the info and fan number email me tommorrow at md7378@att.com and i will email it back. it might help

Faxing in you might not need to do unless its removed then thats how it is reapplied,

Posted by: krylon..

Thanks for the offer man, I appreciate it! I got it all squared away.. Added the FAN account online and the offer said that employees and students were eligible.

I am loviing my new Curve!!

Hi GearTripper:

I am not new to Cingular/ATT but am new to Premier as my company recently signed new contracts with ATT. My question is one of my lines in a Family is 7 month into a 2 year contract. The line is eligible for equipment upgrade through Premier (not eligible through personal account online log in). When I upgrade my device with a new 2 year contract, am I now 7 month into a "4" year ccontract or am I just starting a new 2 year contract?

Thanks.

I'm getting a 8525 for Xmas, but I'm ordering it myself. How's the warranty length, etc?

I thought about waiting until after the 25th to order it, in case something was wrong with it. But, I don't want to wait a few days and have it be out of stock.

Suggestions?

You get a new 2 year contract. For example, I signed up for premier in September with contract. I purchased the Tilt this month 2.5 months into the contract, and my contract is now for November 2009. It would be more clear if companies used the term "renewal" instead of "extension"

Thanks for the reply. I have another question now. Did you get a new device with your contract back in September? If so, does that mean you were able to upgrade your device in a short 2.5 month and possibly do another upgrade in another 2.5 month? Again, I am new to Premier, I am used to the 20 month waiting period on 2 year contracts on my personal plans.

Is there anyway for them to activate my premier account instore? I do not yet have a email address with my company (bestbuy)

I got a crappy free phone because I wanted to keep my Dash. I wanted premier to get the service discount. Wednesday night, the Tilt was $150 AR, and I heard some people could upgrade before the required time. I tried it out and it worked. It depends on the agreement between your work/school though. I'm not gonna abuse it because I don't want to hurt my chances in the future.

I got my Blackjack in June, and I'm eligible for an upgrade through Premier. Not through OLAM, though.

I wish I had gotten the 8525 first, I'd be getting that SE they have for $25 instead.

How are you eligible so quickly?

I have no idea, but I'm grateful. This Blackjack sucks.

Ha, my FAN discount is applied via my Verizon Wireless employment. I can't wait to see what the actual discount for service is.

Still a little hesitant on how to upgrade a phone?! I read through the first page info but why does it seem like I have to re-enter my credit information to upgrade and existing line of service?!

Can these phones be billed to the account?!

The card is a Visa card - you can use it like a regular credit card, but you can't use it like an ATM card and draw cash. It's just like cash, but plastic.

It saves AT&T money by going to the pre-paid card and not having to pay the bank charges. You can use the Visa card at Wally-World, Target, online, etc.

Posted by: Barkley

And this can be used anywhere or only at ATT stores/ATT online???

No, not really. You can use the card to pay for something you want to do. Use the card instead of using your cash in you pocket. Say you wanna go out to eat - use the card instaed of paying cash. You got a good meal and you still have money in your pocket.

Posted by: Barkley

Ok...... that's a good way of looking at it.....

Reading the premier site, it seems that you have to sign up for a 2-year to get the discounted prices. How do you go about buying something without actually adding a line of voice service?

According to the Premier agent to whom I just spoke, you get your FAN-specific equipment discount (usually 30-40% off) when you select "upgrade phone only," but to get the additional rebate ($100 gift card on the Blackjack II, in my case) you *MUST* choose DIFFERENT $39.99-and-up voice and unlimited data plans than you have now. Since I already have 2 lines and voice/data plans that meet those minimums, I'm totally confused by this policy, which seems specifically designed to penalize people who are already their best customers! Anybody know if there's a way around this that still gets you the rebate(s)?

Posted by: CocheseUGA

Will they pull a credit report for getting a phone-only upgrade for a line we already have?

Don't need an unnecessary credit pull sitting there.

If you go through the Premier site (unknown if the rugular site does this), you are required to enter your identifying information, to include your social. I don't know if they actually pull a report or if the SSN is required in order to verify your previous order. Or it could be if the phone is going to be used by another party (again you are the one that fills in the user portion for the phone), it may be to vouch for that person.

I don't think you have to switch voice plans. I'm still on a 850 minute plan from 2004 and the last rebate I got was OK, but then again, there was no data plan involved.

Posted by: yangster258

I doubt I can do this, but I might as well ask. I did some searching with no success.

I plan on switching to a premiere account, from T-mobile, next month and would like to get the Tilt. I see that Newegg is selling it with contract and for cheap compared to other stores right now. So, would I be able to call CS and ask them to give me the discount on my voice plan by giving them my email address, thus changing it to a FAN account or would I have to buy a phone through the premiere site to get the discounts?

Thanks.

Posted by: CocheseUGA

You can sign up for Premier at any time to get the line discount.

Posted by: krylon..

And you can do it online. I just went through almost the exact same scenario as you. Bought a phone from Amazon with a new plan. Once I received the phone, ported my number from Verizon(even though it was out of market) and set up my online account.. I added my FAN account via the online link. Very easy and simple, didn't even have to pick up the phone!

Save on all the angst and frustration and just use the rebate card to pay part of your next ATT wireless bill online.

Net result is you have the value of the card as extra cash in your checking account. Simple, easy, fast.

If you order a phone thru Premier, I know that it says on the website that you can do a (1) time exchange in-store or online. However, what about if the phone is defective, and you want to exchange it for the same exact phone? In that case, are you still able to exchange "(defective) like for (hopefully non-defective) like" in-store?

That sounds like exactly what I plan to do. So, did you ever had to call CS or did all of this online? Also, what do you mean by adding the FAN account via the online link? Did you just go to the premiere site and registered your business/school email?

Thanks.

Yes, I had to call to get the porting done.Called regular CS and was transferred ot the porting dept. Talked to them, got my number ported. Now if you are like me and want a # ported from another ATT market, you have to get a new SIM card from an ATT corporate store. It was free.

As for adding the FAN discount. I went here: http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/

But for some reason I cant remember which link I clicked that brought me to the screen to add the account. Mind you when I did this, I already had my number ported, online account working and also had the link sent ot my email from the above link, to confirm I was eligible for a discount.

You may want to ask the CS rep when you have them on the line before you get transferred to the porting department. They can either add it right there, or tell you exactly where to go on the above link..

HTH!

I want to move to AT&T from Tmobile, but have a question. If I order the Tilt from Amazon, can I activate and get a FAN discount. My school, Indiana University, has an agreement for service but not hardware. I save 150 bucks ordering through Amazon.
So can I order the phone, then call ATT to activate and have a FAN account done?

How can I figure out how much of a discount I could get before joining? Is there any way to find out. I put in my university email and I guess since at&t was in Charleston, WV first the state capital has something set up with them first which is for state employees. I assume this will be the discount I'd have, but I'm unsure because I get one for being a student with CellOne and they are the official carrier of WVU. With the buyout I was trying to figure out how much the discount will help because I fear the price of my plan will skyrocket.

Posted by: ibcop

If you entered your university email address and received an email from AT&T, that email will provide a link to the Premier site. As soon as you enter the email address, you'll get a screen that either syas they do or don't offer any discounts. If you got an email, follow the link to the Premier site and you'll see the discounts offered for your particular FAN number.

Is the premier accounts, like sprints sero plans? Or is it just a flat % discount for certain businesses.

Posted by: CocheseUGA

Here's a tip to first time Premier orderers: AT&T doesn't require FedEx to obtain a signature on these expensive phones you've ordered. Call FedEx after you get the tracking number to have them hold it for you at your local distro center.

My wife picked mine up yesterday, unfortunately it's a Christmas present so I don't even get to see the box until then.

So can I order the phone, then call ATT to activate and have a FAN account done?

Same here. I have not read any confirmation of anybody being able to do this through Newegg or Amazon when I searched around here. This would be very helpful.

what company has the best FAN discounts? Like who can upgrade whenever and as often as they like?

I get 25% discount on all service (including text, data, etc packages), 25% of all accessories online and in-store (headsets included) , no 18 dollar upgrade fee, unlimited upgrades, 20 dollars PDA data w/ ISP.CINGULAR APN access, business customer care

Posted by: wtxn

Through a major state university, I get a discount of 15% on service only. There used to be somewhat of an equipment discount, but that seems to have went away. I could also get a bigger discount through a major Fortune 500 company, which I believe was 20-25% on both service and equipment. I haven't checked the specifics on that discount for awhile, however.

I guess you work for the USPO the reason I say that is because when I migrated from ATT Blue to ATT Orange the lady informed me that my Fan on Orange only gave me 20% off my main voice plan vs under ATT Blue I used to get 20% off my total bill. She told me all Fan only applied discount to main voice line except for USPO which had the best Fan for Cingular which gave you 25% off your bill + 50% off equipment + 25% off accessories and that was only fan on Cingular to give % off your total bill and it was only Fan to get % off accessories as well.

My fan gives 50% off equipment just like USPO nothing on accessories and 20% off main voice plan only.

Posted by: psycho-

Nope, not USPO....I can't tell you, it's a fortune 500, a really big one. We do alot of partnership work with at&t.

And yes, I also get 50% off handsets, though as we all know; it's pointless because all premier pricing comes out the same.

We also get on-demand no-wait handset unlocking.

Speaking of the E series, any rumors on any new E series (especially with North American 3G) for 2008?

Anybody have updated prices on the Tilt, 8525, and BJ II as upgrades through Premier?

Posted by: rablat

who do you call if you leave your current employer that your FAN is with.
And how long do you have to do so.
Or do they periodicaly check and remove you automaticaly.

Ok, about 5 years ago my wife joined ATT before went to Cingular and we are on her FAN account. Since then she has left her job but we still get the 23% discount on service each month on the family plan. We now want to upgrade our phones since they are really old!!

Unfortunately, when my wife originally signed up for the FAN discount, you didn't need an email address and we didn't access the Premier site so we can't do an upgrade that way.

Since we are on the old Blue network, they are going to force us to change to the Orange network. If we buy our phones without the Premier site and change our plan to Orange, will we still get the FAN discount?

Just wanted to get some feedback before we go too far with a CSR.

Thanks for the help!

Posted by: DLF

It may just depend on the CSR you get. Mine has never asked for a work email, but then again they have caller ID and can see I'm calling from the work number in the company from whom I get my FAN discount (18%).

I think if you know your FAN number and company name, you should be fine.

Under "Phones and Plans" linked from the Premier page, I am able to see 1-year and 2-year contract pricing. However, when I select 1 year contract pricing and add a phone, voice, and data plan and go through the checkout page, the service agreement at the last stage of the purchasing process lists a 2 year agreement. I have also attempted to checkout after selecting the phone without a voice/data plan and I still see the same two year service agreement at the end.

I called ATT Premier Customer Care and the rep mentioned that though their website lists 1 year contract pricing, that option is unavailable for purchase. Is this correct?

I should also mention that I am trying to upgrade an existing line as opposed to adding a new line of service.

Many thanks to those who can shed some light on this matter.

Posted by: raz1996

Any truth to the rumor that if you order a phone at reduced rates and select a new plan, once you get the phone if you simply take your existing SIM card and put it into the new phone without activating the new SIM card, your account will never change over to the new plan?

I was on the Premier site yesterday wanting to upgrade my phone only, which is an option you can choose from. However, I initiated a live chat with a customer rep. who I asked if I can upgrade my phone without extending my contract. Answer was no, your contract will automatically be extended for two years with the phone only purchase. Nice little catch. Maybe they should put that on the site so people know they are extending there contract when they think they are just upgrading their phone.

They have reduced the number of handsets eligible for mail-in rebates on both the Premier and regular websites. They have gone down from forty-four entries to thirty-five entries on the Premier Rebate form. The regular website went from fifty-six entries to forty-eight entries.

Yes, particularly sneaky as they dedicate a whole page to extending your agreement and make you electronically agree to the 2 year contract during checkout process.

Or maybe people should just read the damn pages before hitting the "submit" buttons.

I really hope that this hasn't been asked yet, but if it has, I couldn't find it.

Is there any way to know how often you're eligible for an equipment upgrade, other than just checking the site occasionally until it tells you that you can? Is there a place on the site where you can view your company's agreement?

You should check with the office of your company which manages the contract. Everybody, Premier or nonpremier, is eligible to upgrade six months prior to the end of a two year contract. The earlier upgrades may or may not be sanctioned by either your employer or the wireless company.

Any idea if employee discounts will be ever offered on Unity plans? I got a flyer in the mail today regarding switching to At&t for Unity. Hell NO! Not if I can't use my discount! Will they ever straigten this out?

I am having some issues getting the discount added to my account. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have faxed the necessary paperwork & called a few times since November. Two bills later I'm not getting any discount. Thanks

Thanks Joel, but I have already been there & completed that process. It seems my request to get it added had fallen on "deaf ears" as the business reps I chatted with didn't add it. It seems its on my OLAM now, but I'll have to continue to check

Anyone have any issues upgrading a line through some place like Radio Shack? Went in last night to upgrade a secondary line and it said they had to call in about it. What gives?

Posted by: RogerPodacter

ok i am having trouble with premier. i am currently reading page 2 of this thread, so my answer may be here somewhere. i received the email verification thru my work email a couple months ago. got verified, i have been getting my discount every month.

now i want a phone. just went to premier, somehow i got to a page on the premier site with all the phones. i had to go thru a page which said add a number from existing account, or create a new account, and it asked my billing zip code and social security number (last 4). however by the time i did the checkout, it was really adding a second line to my account. so i canceled.

now i am going back to premier, which by the way is hard to get to, and i dont think i have a login for premier. so on the regular homepage, i re-entered my work email address and it said congratulations i am elegible and they sent an email to my work email. i cant check it till tomorrow morning. so am i doing this right or wrong? i never received a loging or link in my initial verification email months ago. so what is going on?

Posted by: RogerPodacter

OK i am clearly confused now. i got to the GET STARTED page, and selected "upgrade, existing, etc" account where you enter zip code and number and last 4 of social. the next page showed 2 options, upgrade existing device/plane, or add new line. i selected update existing line. then the page with all phones displays. but on the right where my order status shows, it says Line 2. why is it adding another line to my account?

premier says i am eligible for upgrade, but then makes it a second line.

Posted by: RogerPodacter

i think i got my first issues above figured out. however, do you guys have your own login to premier? or do you just link there from OLAM?

Posted by: DLF

That, or from the original link they sent to my work email, which luckily I saved.
