I used to be eligible for an upgrade and then I lost my SIM card for my iPhone so I went to the store and got a new one. After registering it, it said I had a new 2yr contract but i called ATT and they reverted it back to when I orginally got the phone. Prior to this happening, I was able to upgrade via the "upgrade phone" feature on the ATT mylogin site...
Has anyone else had trouble trying to upgrade recently, I see the last few posts seem to indicate that...

Thanks,
Mike

Hi; been awhile. Can anyone help with the last question here:

c) For the Premier plan I recently upgraded my wife's phone, and now 'Upgrade Phone' is no longer an option for her. Do I run the risk of not being able to purchase new phones now for the next year/two years?

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gen...-bb-8310-a.html

Further input also appreciated. Thanks.

I logged into the Premier site. I want to sign up for a new minimal family plan with 3 phones. But the 550 minute regular $59 plan isn't available.

The cheapest plan I see is a 700 minute plan discounted for $56. I don't need the extra minutes. Doesn't seem worth the hassle of going through the Premier site to save $3.

Is there some trick to allow me to sign up for the lower price family plan?

Posted by: just2584

You have to call the premier customer service number to get the 550. It states that plainly on the site to contact them about the 550 plan.

I wouldn't say is "plainly" says that. What is says is:

"*Add 1 additional line, for a total of 3 lines, on the Nation 550 FamilyTalk w/Rollover $59.99 plan. This plan is currently not available on Premier, to place your order call 1-800-845-9681."

Its not clear why they list the phone number. Sounds like it says you can't get this but here's a phone number anyway. I assume the number is there either to order something else, or maybe to get the $59 plan without a discount.

Is it confusing to just me? Ok, so I called the number. I don't even have ATT service. This is a sales call. You'd think they'd have their best face forward. I spoke with a rude totally clueless person who was no help other than spewing back whatever I said to them.

First I asked about the discount. They said, I can't look up anything without your foundation account number. You get that from your company.

She was trying to dump me already. Then I said I was already on the website and I demanded if there was a way to find out the number. I gave it to her, she didn't even look it up. I said the $59 plan didn't show up. She says you can't get it.

Then I read the part above about the $59 plan, she said ok, its $59.

Then I asked about a discount, and she told me to click on current offers. I had to keep asking before we found a service discount entry. Then she says ok its $59 minus your service discount.

Then I reread the part to her saying its not available on Premier. Then she says ok, its not available.

Overall she was totally useless and rude, simply spewing back to me as fact whatever I told her, apparently having no trouble constantly contradicting herself.

Overall this is a VERY bad start to trying to sign up with ATT. I'm accustomed and horrified at the bad customer service with Sprint. Most recently I spent a total over 10 hours on the phone over 6 months trying to sort out one plan change. This is not looking any better.

Finally I asked if someone else could help. After a long wait for the supposed supervisor, I spoke with someone else who seemed a little better who said "not available on Premier" means on the Premier website and that it CAN be ordered via the phone and that the service discount DOES apply.

But I was still confused in that she couldn't tell me what the discount would really be. Implied that I'd have to wait for the 1st bill after my 30 day trial is up. That would not be reasonable to wait until I'm committed to a $600 ETF to find out I've been lied to about a discount.

In anycase, thanks for the response, I would never have called the number given the description on the website.

My overalll experience is that Hofo is much more helpful than ATT customer service . One thing about ATT is that you get very different experiences with different reps on the phone. If you feel you are getting no where with a rep on the phone after about 5 minutes just say thank you, hang up, and call back immediately to get a different rep .

Posted by: just2584

You can find your FAN number at the bottom right of the screen when you first click the link or sign into Premiere. The first times you've logged on it just looks part of the screen but its down there. Its a bunch of numbers begining with 0 if not then its just showing the numbers but you will want to list zeros in front of them before telling it to customer care. Usually its 3 zeros.

ATT is telling me I can no longer use the "military discount" because the Air Force has not renewed a contract.

ATT said they have to refer me to my "company HR department". Of course the DoD or AF doesn't really have such an office to contact about this.

I continue to receive discounts on my service, I have been using ATT for > 3 years now. But I can't purchase anything at a discount now due to this apparent problem. The Premier web site does not reflect the discount - it will let me in and shop all day, but at normal prices. We're supposed to get a 39% discount on phones.

Does anyone know how to contact a POC for the DoD Handheld Wireless Enterprise BPAs Sponsorship Program?

Anyone have recent experience buying ATTT phones with the 39% discount online?

Premier support people told me the *only* way to get this discount is online, so I'm in a bad spot if they are correct.

If signing up for a new Premier account, do you have to buy the phone from the website? Can I buy the phone(s) from Walmart and get new service there, then add the FAN number to it afterwards to get the service discount?

The phone prices I see on the Premier website are no better than the regular website. However Walmart prices are much better.

Thanks

Posted by: whiteandnerdy

^yes, you can open an account at WalMart and then apply the service discount later through cingular.com/discounts

Thanks for the info.

What about activation fees? On Premier I get free activation. Can I get that back or is that part of the pricing comparison.

In the mean time, I've noticed that Amazon has even better prices than Walmart on some phones.

Does anyone know if the new iPhone 3G will be available through Premier and qualify for service discounts now that its handled in the same way as other PDA phones? That would make the $30 data plan more palatable. Although I'm not happy with its significantly higher SAR rating.

Posted by: jimmirehman

dm30, thats exactly what i want to know! if that is the case then it SEALS the deal on replacing both my iphones on day one!

Posted by: rabbivj

Here is a retarded question, i cant find it in the thread but I want to possibly go for a blackberry bold when it comes out. I got my Q in I think february. What is the wait time between phones in terms of when I buy one and want to get another?

On another thread, someone posted emails sent by AT&T to their store managers. It spells out how they handle and charge for the 3G iphone. Of course I still have a question...

They clearly state that the 3G iPhone DOES qualify for Premier discounts.

However, I'm still confused. When I login to my Premier website trying to configure a Blackberry, it only shows the $45 data option. Can I order the $30 consumer data plan even though it doesn't show up on the website???

Posted by: bart2k

rabb you can always get a new phone you just only can get one with upgrade discount every 2years. also lol at walmart i always gonna fix thier mistakes when they setup peoples accounts. for example one time i had a customer call in because they setup thier account at walmart were suppost to be on family plan with 4lines on 4,000min plan, it
ended up they set it up to have 4 different family plans all with 4,000mins in each group with one line each im like omg are you kidding me made customers bill $600 just for voice plans $150 per family plan lol

Posted by: ROLLTIDE

It's one discounted phone/ device every 1 year not 2 years

Posted by: bart2k

actually it can be 2years depends. i get people calling in all the time they sign new contract back in like May 15th 2007 and they aren't eligible for a discount upgrade until may 15th 2009

well ive heard of ppl getting new phones @ discounted prices thru some type of loophole on premier. I just wasnt sure if that was the case.

Can you cancel a premier account?

Posted by: lostfan916

Hi, I am an incoming freshmen into college and I checked to see if my University e-mail worked, and fortunately it did. So I can browse around the Premier store and everything.

What I am wondering is if I am going to be able to get discounts on my plans. I want o get the $33.99 voice plan and also the $42.50 data plan (unlimited data and text.) Do students get these discounts as well?

And my next question is will this be able to work with the iPhone? I know that there is not discount offered on the iPhone, but I am wondering if they will allow me to get the 15% off my bill each month

And one last thing... how exactly do I get the discounted plans (that is if I am eligible.) I wrote down the FAN so I ca provide it to AT&T, but is that going to be enough? I am planning on getting an iPhone on the 11th or 12th, so should I go to an AT&T store because they would be able to handle this better, and what do I need to bring to prove I am a college student? Is the FAN enough? I don't have a student ID yet either.

Thanks in advance.

] After gaining access to your company's premier site, did you guys have to reauthentic your e-mail ever again online or by phone?

I'm asking this because I can access my company's at&t portal but I forgot my email address password and it is such a hassle to find it.

I tested out the checkout and I went as far as the page where they ask for my payment, and I did not want to pay for it now and in the future be unable to receive any discounts for not knowing the password to my email address.

Posted by: AxsDeny

I'm in FAN because I wanted to get the discount, but I'm not an enterprise/corporate user.

This week, with iPhone 3G coming out, would I have to ge the $45 data plan, instead of the $30?

If so, how do I get out of FAN?

Thanks.

Cingular's premier account discounts and discount pricing is fraudulent. From the website direct to pricing, it shows the bb curve refurb $69.99 and the bb curve new $99 after a $100 rebate. On the premier side after I log into my account, bb curve refurb is $99 and the bb curve new is $99 w/$100 rebate. It just shows that Cingular lies to its customers by promising discounts on new phones that they do not honor. The only real advantage to the FAN accounts is the discount on service, but the discount only takes away from the inflated price that Cingular charges anyway.

Posted by: Cardiff Giant

Ok question, I got a refurb Treo 750 from premier last October. I have always been able to login and view available phones at the discounted prices as I always wanted to see what they had out there. Then a few weeks ago I go to login and it tells me I'm not eligible for an upgrade(despite having activated the new sim/phone as instructed in the directions that came with it). Did they change the premier upgrade policy or something?

Posted by: ellecsor

One question, is there a limited amount of times one can take advantage of their premier discount? For example, let's say I get 50% off of accessories, is there a set number of times I can purchase an accessory, per month, year, etc?

Do you, or anyone else have a link to this post?

I just realized i can use my student e-mail to get a FAN account, but I'd like to know how it will work with an iPhone 3g.

My Iphone(s) 3G get the FAN discount on the voice plan and on the add on text messaging, but not the data plan.

Posted by: wase4711

do family members, (husband/wife) of a FAN member also qualify, or just the employee?

thank you!

Good. I hope I'm as lucky when I place my order in a few weeks.

Posted by: Neutron1998

I was told on the phone that signing up with a Premier account will waive the activation fees. Is this correct?

Will the Apple store be able to do this when I go get the iPhone?

OLAM for Premier subscribers now show this when you click on "Check for Upgrade Eligibility" and are not eligible for an upgrade discount:

How long did it take after you removed it did you get your FAN back?

You must not be an active member on Howard Forums anymore because there was a big forum back in March/April about the "premiere loophole" that allowed essentially unlimited upgrades when ordering online.

ATT closed this loophole so having a FAN/premiere account only qualifies you for monthly discounts. ATT knows how long ago you last received a discounted phone so they are not allowing people will FAN's to upgrade every month like usual. So with ATT discounted phones, you will have to wait the normal 18 month into a 24 month contract or 11 months into a 12 month contract.

I think if you phone bill is high enough, sometimes ATT lets you upgrade every 12 months into a 24 month contract. It's all very confusing to me. I'm kinda of bummed about losing the unlimited upgrade via ATT premiere.

Posted by: TheShadowWRX

Is there anyway to purchase through Premier and charge the purchase to your account?
I was going to upgrade to the 3G iPhone but I'd rather charge it to my ATT bill than my credit card...

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Posted by: wase4711

supposedly, they added the ability to get a phone through your premier account last week..

Posted by: TheShadowWRX

I tried to upgrade to the 3g iPhone yesterday and at the last step it asked for billing information. I guess I will try my luck on the phone and get back to you guys....

Posted by: BanginBalla031

^^YEah let me know, I just signed up on ATT and wanted to know if that was possible (billing phones to your account).

Posted by: TheShadowWRX

Well I didn't call them but I did the online chat and they said it was NOT possible at this time, I can try to call later when I'm not so busy.
Anyone else care to take a stab at it in the meantime?

Mike

Well I took a look online and it wouldnt let me bill to the account as well. It may have to do with the "type" of FAN account you have. Not sure they would allow charging to the bill as some accounts are company paid and some are employee paid.

I have to say though that with the service discounts, the 3G just came up on my radar as a possible replacement\switch in service for me in Oct.

I would suggest every single place mentioned in this thread...there are 17 pages worth of organization you can belong to for discounts. My suggestion is join the Military.

Posted by: didefresh2006

This might have been asked before, but tomorrow is my day for upgrade! I am thinking about 2 scenarios: 1. Going to a corporate store and buying the Blackberry 8310 red phone and asking if they'll match Sam's Club price at $47.28 and if they don't just go by Sam's Club and getting it or 2. See if I can get a price match on the Treo 750.

Now, since the Treo 750 DOES have 3g, I'm seriously thinking about getting one because I'm going cheap this time, so my question is: Can I call 611 and get them to price match the free refurbished Treo 750 on the regular AT&T website (under the special deals) or will it still be $99.00? I don't want to pay a whole lot for a phone right now. Also, I wonder if AT&T will allow me to go to Sam's and renew my contract there or will it interfere with my 15% monthly discount?

Posted by: didefresh2006

nevermind. I got the refurb Blackberry Curve 8310 titanium for $89.99 on Premier on my secondary line while leaving my primary line ready for upgrade when I find a deal.

Posted by: ericrwalker

Go for the Treo Pro...I almost waited for that as an upgrade for my 750...but last week I bought an Iphone and love it. There are a few things I really miss about the Treo that Apple doesn't have but overall it's a wonderful device.

because i haven't put it into use yet

I really appreciate all the info on this site that has helped me. I have searched but have been unable to find the answer to one question.

I already have a FAN# and discount, but am unable to log into the Premier Site. What do I need to do to get a login for the Premier site? My email address is not affiliated with the FAN#. It is Retirement Systems of Alabama, but I work for a municipality. I would like to upgrade my phone. I have been receiving my FAN discount for appx 2 years.

How can I log into the Premier Site?

On your account's upgrade page, click on "Upgrade Today" and it should take you to the Premier upgrade page.

At least that is how it works for me and I don't know the login for Premier website either.

my corp account only provides 18% discount on service but the equipment fees are higher.

can i purchase equipment and 2 yr service from amazon or wirefly and then before i get my first bill goto my ATT premier using my corp FAN account and apply discounts to the monthly service charge??

I can't imagine why not; your fan account discount is usually primarily for Airtime discounts; I doubt they care where the hardware comes from..

From what I hear yes you can, but there may be a delay with getting your discount applied.....
