Unlocked Moto Pebl with At&t Call Failed Error All of a Sudden

This is my first post and most likely my final attempt at trying to figure out what is wrong with my phone...

I purchased an unlocked Motorola Pebl over a year ago, have had no problems until last month when one day every outgoing call attempt gave a "call failed" error. When someone tries to call me it goes directly to my voicemail. I have been with At&t/Cingular for 10 years and have never had a problem. I called customer service and they suggested my SIM may have failed. I purchased a new SIM from At&t and it works in all of my old phones. When I put it in the Pebl I get full bars, but the same "call failed" error....anyone have any ideas? Are there some settings I should try to change or should I just give up and call it a loss?

I experienced the exact same behavior with a friends unlocked V3 (new) from centennial. I even put a T-mobile SIM in it and it still behaved the exact same way, yet it worked fine on centennial (Keynote: Cent runs 850, ATT & Tmobile runs 1900) here. I have since tested an identical V3 of the same age (very new) from the same carrier and it worked fine. This leads me to believe it was some issue with the phone, like it was unable to function on the 1900 band or something.

Now, i don't know what area you are in, or what band ATT uses there. However you could start by popping in a Tmobile sim and see if it behaves the same way.

You could also try a master reset and see if that fixes it....(warning this may erase everything off your phone)

Tried a master reset and still get the same problem...

I'm in Washington, DC right now but I have a Florida phone number...

When I go to Network Setup > Network Band, I am able to select the 1900 band, then the phone allows me to select from 2 networks that are found using that band...I also tried with the other Band to see what would happen and I still get the same problem....

Guess I'll have to wait and find someone with another SIM and try that out like you suggested....At least I have another phone to use in the meantime.....

i've been in dc for 3 years i bought the phone when i was already here and it worked fine from day one...until now

get a diff't phone anyways because the PEBL is getting old? I'm sorry to be rude, but i gotta say the PEBL is a crappy phone when it comes to RF. Try to find a cheap V3 to take its place. You won't miss the PEBL.

guess everyone's got their own opinion....i personally love my Pebl and am really unhappy that it is nonfunctional.....
