Sprint just fired up EVDO i guess in fort wayne area, was wondering if the beast had any 3g plans for them. I think a couple years back Cingular put a bit of money into this area, especially around airport/airguard base I noticed (someone must like cingular/AT&T), among other places around the area.

Also heard theres been testing in Evansville, any new word there?

Awesome, thanks for the link. After some digging around, i found that Norte Dame is a big customer in the south bend area, which is probably why the focus in the south bend area specifically. Not that coverage would actually be an issue for them with the very good roaming agreement between AT&T and Centennial Wireless (who runs on the cellular band).

yea some HSDPA love in fort wayne would be AMAZING

HSDPA in Bloomington and Lafayette would be nice, if only just the 5 cell sites covering the main parts of downtown and IU/Purdue campus. Then they could expand to the major road corridors like SR37 and I-65...

AT&T has delivered dramatic changes in Indiana through the introduction of its 3G wireless broadband network. This year, AT&T will expand its wireless 3G network in the U.S. to more than 80 additional cities, including Lafayette, South Bend and Fort Wayne. This planned expansion will bring AT&T 3G wireless services to nearly 350 leading U.S. markets by the end of 2008, including all of the top 100 cities.

NICE! Can't wait!

No mention of Bloomington (where IU is) though, which is odd, unless thats included in indy expansion somehow. I know Notre Dame is a client (South Bend)...

Lafayette/West Lafayette will have 19 sites by the end of the year. They started working on the first tower a few weeks ago.

I'm from elkhart and relocated to Indianpolis last month, was up there last weekend with my new iphone 3g, no 3g yet, but it's coming. Lived with 1x on sprint up there for years, but about a week after I moved they turned on EVDO... That's my luck. It was ok though it was free, I was working for the only Nextel corp store in that area. (ipcs only in south bend). Hope you guys get it soon up there.

Cool, they should be getting it soon. As for Fort Wayne, most of the sites (all that i've seen anyways) have had antennas and cables installed for 3G. It also looks like they will be giving auburn 3G as well, and hopefully a new cell site for the east side (wishful thinking). I wonder how long it will take for them to turn it all up. Last rep i talked to said middle of August, we shall see!

Indy has very nice coverage, from what i've seen, that is AT&T land.

Yeah AT&T is great for both GSM and 3G down here. Next month for the Fort eh? good deal... I can't wait till it is 3g from Indy up to Michiana, it will be nice to stream last fm and pandora for the trip!!!

What about the Anderson/Muncie area? Also New Castle to the south. All three areas have EVDO from Verizon and Sprint.

Update Lafayette/West Lafayette will be turning on 3G/HSDPA Sept 15th

Posted by: zephxiii

Anyway you could find out about Fort Wayne's turn up date?

Posted by: kirbo20

Is that like a schedule for actual AT&T techs?

Posted by: kirbo20

The information I have shows no work being done on Fort Waynes network.

Any word on 3G for the South Bend area? I know it's planned, but does anyone know if they have given any dates set?

Posted by: zephxiii

I was just through there this weekend, i tried eyeballing the sites to see if they at least had new antennas/cables up for it. I couldn't really tell though...could call a local corp store and see what they know.
