Hacking disables visual voicemail?

My family is currently with att (3 lines) and had one year left with our contract. I just bought an iphone for 299 and that extended the contract for 2 years by adding the 20 dollar iphone plan. Now my question is, can I cancel my iphone plan before the 30 day period is up to avoid the extended 2-year contract? Im guessing i could just hack activate my iphone after I call cingular to cancel the iphone plan. Will I still have visual voice mail or at least notifications with just a media max 200 plan?

Afaik, visual voicemail will disappear. Why not just stay with the iPhone plan? $20 a month for data and visua voicemail is a pretty sweet deal. I couldn't live without visual.

yeah but the 2 year contract extension sucks. I would like the option to get a new phone or switch providers in a year. Well would I at least get voicemail notifications???

the two year extension only applies to ur line if you're on a family plan

i just called and added the iphone to my plan and lied about some activation errors but that i wanted to set that as my primary phone and that i could give them the imei and that i didnt want iphone tech support but general account support.
it worked for me
