Can you get RE-hired after being fired?

OK....so here it is. I was a retail sales rep for Cingular and I worked in a corp store. When they started the whole point system with being late and tardies and stuff i really took a hit. Granted i will say that the easiest part of a job is getting there on time. ANWAY...I was late enough to get the three points or whatever and eventually got fired after the 4th. I have to just add that it was LITERALLY for clocking in ONE minute after my scheduled time that a lot of these points were accrued. I hate MY TIME!! ANWAYs....i loved working for the company (hated the managment)and i made SOOOOO much more money working for Cingular that i do currently do working for Verizon. Now I wanna know if you can even get re-hired after getting fired? I dont want to apply and get the door slammed in my face ya know? its been almost a year since i left cingular. ALSO i was wondering if it was worth it....I mean with cingular going back to AT&T ...have things drastically changed? would i hate it? I used to make like 3 thousand dollar commission checks at cingular and now im barely making twelve hundred!! its really hard to live on that after getting used to the other ya know? CAN ANYONE PLLEEEEEASE HEEELLLP!?? Also If i did apply back, i would apply at the mall instead of the store i was working at b4.

Hopeful!
ex-cingular employee

If you hit 40+ in features a month then 3000k is possible.

i dont really get what u mean....do u mean like 40 dollar per opp.? or are u trying to say u dont make that much money...sorry a little confused on that!

bottom line is until they change the commission structure there's about a 2% chance that you would make the same kind of money as you were making when you left cingular....my numbers have gone up drastically this year and i'm making 500-1000 less every single month. but it doesn't help when my features goal has gone up 102% since march and my at risk feature pay hasn't changed 1 penny. i've gone from making 69% on features in march, to 38% in august and my goal just jumped a whopping $312 in one month. oh and have i even stated that our 3rd tier opportunities payouts aren't what tier 1 was last year?

but to answer your real question, i don't know for sure...but i highly doubt it. you should've given your 2 weeks notice and quit when you saw you were getting close to being fired and you would still have a chance of being re-hired

wow that really stinks!!! I hope it gets better for u guys!! Well i know i probably should have quit but my manager made it seem like i would be ok. oh well i suppose. shes evil. It weird bc I know SO much about cingular and ive been with verizon since feb. and am still learning new crap everyday. verizon is a lot less organized than cingular was. No matter what though...its really hard living on half of what your used to making....i was about to buy a house and then i got fired from cingular, i figured id be making close to or more at v erizon but im making SO much less. Im really stressing!

i know where you're coming from...i was a few months from buying a house when this new commission structure was put in place and needless to say those hopes were dashed

No, you are not hirable.

Where are you located exactly?

Honestly, it depends on the area of where you work at. If you work in an extremely busy and high traffic area it is still possible to get big checks, but from what I've heard, not like before. A lot of people have quit because the commission structure went down so much.

The thing is, they are changing it around so you have to sell other services too. Right now unity is big. If you can push unity you're commission will go up. If you can really push DSL and Dish Network, you can make some good money. But it's so hard to do all three...but it honestly depends on your area.

1) wait a year.
2) get another job at another wireless provider (for the time being to build up a resume and prove your worthy)
3) change your font color

no no dont listen to these guys, i am the king of starting drama, i not only left cingular rehireable the first time last year, i just left cingular for tmobile a month ago and im rehireable. the REHIREABLE is the part that counts, now what you can do is get a hold of your local HR team. message me, where are you located and i will find you the number to HR. your welcome... hahaha

The point is it's not worth getting re-hired because you will make less money. Shareholders want our commissions to drop between 15 to 25% over the next year. You work for the shareholders not the customers.

Where do you get your information, it is well known that AT&T would rather not pay there employees at all but where did you come up with this information, or are you just assuming or do you have a reliable source.

where here's my deal with unity...a good 75% or more of my market is either just outside the bellsouth footprint (live in small cities outside of mine that have other companies) or have FAN discounts (we have a large military base and a ton of state employees). so it cuts down big time on how many unity plans we can sell. and we can't sell dsl or dish network yet, so that's not even an option. i'm basically stuck selling the same old features as always

wow thanks for all of ur responses! honestly it is sooo freaking hard to even make 1500
in commission a month at verion...they really suck! I need to make more money somehow and its not happening at verizon. i wish i could buy my house

Posted by: Starxtacy8

haha ur kinda funny...Lancaster Pennsylvania. what do i ask? am i rehirable? and eben if i was....i wonder if they would even consider hmmm.. i had damn good numbers tho! Everyone says that they are making less money though now but anything is better than 1500 MAX a month since i started at verizon

In my area I quit my job and moved to another state for a year for family reasons and just came back. I learned from other managers I am friends with that if you quit they will not hire you as of about 4 months ago, now that didn't affect me I left on good terms and quit long before that. but since coming back I have applied for jobs and have been told they won't rehire me because I left cingular. which is total crap, because I left before their new policy and I left on good terms. I ran a kiosk for cingular and now they will not give me time of day. Personally its a bunch of bs, but guess I got out when I could now that commisson went down and what not. I assuming that it depends on your area, in smaller areas, they may have policies that are discriminating, and in other not so much.

I just checked realtor.com and im seeing 5 bedroom homes there for less than $200,000! you could get a job at starbucks and still afford to buy a house!

News flash. The points system is just an easy way to fire someone who isn't performing up to par. I know plenty of reps who make their numbers and are a few minutes late repeatedly that have been around for many many years.
