G'day Folk's!

I have an aftermarket USB cable that represents the Nokia USB Data Cable CA-45.

With some standalone apps, I am able to perform limited functions on the aforementioned handsets, but in particular, would like to change themes, tone etc

I feel I'm doing something wrong as I've hit the wall in trying to perform these tasks. Are there any members/users that could perhaps shed some light on this situation?

Also, using Phoenix Service Software, I am unable to recognise the handset with the above mentioned cable, but feel (from my research) that I should be able to.

Regards - Pete

^ Hi, welcome to HoFo! The problem is that that port on those phones are "EZ flash" port and Nokia has not made that port enabled to work w/ the knock-off CA-45. The REAL one's CA-45DS DOESN'T use USB on one end but rather like a RJ-45 ethernet jack to hook up flash boxes. Some carriers have request Nokia to cripple the end-user access to the EZ flash port anyway.

yup the EZflash port is only used by nokia technicians right now for servicing/flashing the phone, not for consumer customizing and stuff
you are limited to wap/mms to download stuff to ur phone

Thanking you kindly for you're responses. I truly value you're comments which ultimately will save me much time (not to mention, my sanity as well!).
