palm treo 700p voice commands

On the samsung, when I had my BT headset on, I would push the button on my headset and it would ask me what I wanted to do, and I could do it all via voice activation. I cannot do that with the 700p.

I did a bit of googling, and it turns out (from what I've read) that you can only do it with the wired headset.

Is there any 3rd party software that you've used that will enable this type of functionality? it would be awesome if I could respond to text messages, email, dial a person, etc, without picking up my phone. Would certainly be easier for when I'm driving.

Afraid not. I keep mine in a cradle and activate the VD feature with a hard button press. The mic is usually sensitive enough to pick up what I say and then it transfers the call to my headset.

I don't understand... lol

you keep it in a cradle in your car? can you explain what you do in a step by step format or something? :-)

I assigned voice dial to a hard button on my Treo. Press the hard button, voice dial states, "Please say command". I say, "Call Whomever". The Treo's mic picks up my voice. The command doesn't go through the headset. Voice dial says, "calling". At this point the call is transfered to the BT headset.
