Anyone ever try this to unlock a S46

Hi,

I was reading a note on the web and someone gave the following procedure for temporarily unlocking a S46.

1) Put non-att sim card in phone
2) Go somewhere where there is no signal
3) Try to dial a SOS call
4) Wait about 3 minutes. In an attempt to get a signal, the phone will unlock and use the sim you put in the phone.

I wonder if this works? Also, what is SOS? 911?

SOS is for 911.
