V9 Rebooting itself

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok, I am about ready to put my fist through a wall here.

I have a Gunmetal v3xx and went through 4 of them over the course of a few months, and all of them would randomly reboot themselves. Whether I am on a call, or playing music or whatever. It was very annoying.

Now I get a V9 and all was well since I got it a few days ago. Now This morning I was playing music, and the bloody thing rebooted itself!!

I can't believe it. The last Razr I had which never gave me any trouble was the v3i. I can't understand why there is such a problem with the phone rebooting. I have read of other people having trouble with it also. And it was mainly a problem with the Gunmetal version.

Now I am trying to figure out the common denoninater here. The only thing which is the same in both phones is the simcard and the 2gb memory card I have in there. I changed the simcard today, so lets see what happens there.

Anyone think it could be the sim or the memory card causing the random reboots? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

my v3xx has been pretty solid, never reboots itself, are you in an EDGE only area?

Yes, Edge only area. No 3G coverage around here.

That is why I am wondering if maybe it might be the sim or the memory card causing problems.

BTW, what color v3xx do you have?

Yea, a V3XX in an edge only area should be SUPER stable. gun metal grey.

EDIT: I also have a 2gb card in mine, no problems (Kingston)

Never had a reboot. Gotta be the sim or mem card if you had the problem over that many phones. Wait and see what the new sim does. If it still reboots then take the card and see how it does.

I have a platinum v3xx with a kingston 1g, no problems. If its the card you can always ebay it and get a another one.

Well I got a new sim card, and got a new 2GB memory card, so I will see what happens.

I will post my results.

I have a V3xx, gunmetal, and I haven't had a problem with it yet whatsoever. I live in an area where I have either full 3G reception, or I can drive 10 mins and be in basically an EDGE-only area.

I just posted about a similarly annoying problem with now my 2nd nokia 6126. Will at&t replace my SIM? Is that really potentially the problem? I don't have a memory card and I've already gotten the phone warranty replaced once. I find it hard to believe it would be the SIM...but I guess you never know.

I have a V3xx gunmetal and it reboots all the time too. Especially when trying to answer or make a phone call. I agree that it is very annoying, I am just putting up with it while I wait for th HTC 8925. Wish I had a solution for you.

My V3xx rebooted regularly on a memory card issue.

Since then I still have an occasional re-boot, perhaps once every couple weeks or so, and usually when I'm screwing around with it.

It's the damn 3G technology. Still experimental if you ask me. Both my platinum v3xx and v9 will do this occasionaly. You just have to live with it and no it has nothing to do with your memory card.

i think the v9 is pretty solid phone.

The only weird issue i had to do with the v9 I am running now is the fact that I had unregistered sim on mine yesterday, reboot the phone and it is working perfectly..

WoW,, not exactly what I wanted to read here today since I am looking into getting me a V9..

Well a little update today, I took my V9 back because the phone kept dropping calls *another problem that I forgot to mention from above*... The second Razr2 V9 I got from the agent store I go to, is cutting in and out while I am calling people, as well as dropping calls as well. I would advise not getting the v9 because of these issues, tomorrow I am returning the phone and getting another N75... Seems like that was the better phone to have in my opinion even though the razr2 does have some sick features and I really like this phone now... Can we say the touch screen *outer screen when phone is closed* while playing music is AWESOME!
