SIM from BB into data card?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My BB has unlimited data + tethering plan. If I were to pull the sim out and put it in one of the wireless cards, would it work?

yes it will, but technically it should not and you could get charged

I don't think it'll work. BlackBerry Data has access to the special BlackBerry APN, so I don't think you'll be able to put it in a wireless card without incurring additional charges.

BIS and BES both include the WAP.CINGULAR APN

However there are two BIS feature codes, both are 29.99 but only one has WAP.CINGULAR, very confusing. I just switched over last month from a blackberry and initially it didn't work

i've tired it, no extra change.

BB plans and Packet data are different if thats what you mean

It should work fine. Just make sure you're connecting with the WAP.CINGULAR APN. The Blackberry's are provisioned for the WAP.CINGULAR APN, but when you're dialing the connection through your computer, sometimes it attempts to use ISP.CINGULAR. So, just setup the Communications Manager (downloadable from AT&T's website) or create a regular dialup connection with WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM as your username, CINGULAR1 as your password, and *99# as your dial-in number.

With my BES unlimited data + tethering plan I have access to both wap.cingular and isp.cingular APNs in addition to the Blackberry APN. I read in the PDA subforum that a guy was able to put his Blackberry sim in a data card and use it successfully as long as he didn't use the AT&T Connection Manager. I would speculate that as long as you have tethering on your account(which means you have access to the isp.cingular APN) that you probably could do this and get away with it. I've been thinking about getting a data card and trying this myself.

Here's the post where the guys talks about his experience:
