Is there anyway to check your work email from home (CUID@att.com)? I tried using https://webmail.cingular.net/, but it just times out.

Get a blackberry and hook it up to our bes server.

i was told that sales reps cannot do this because the email is only allowed to be accessable when you are working. i asked to set this up on my blackberry but they told me i was not allowed to....

anyone know?

I know for a fact that this applies to COU employees who are union, reason being is that we are technically doing something "work related". With that being said, we would need to be paid per hour that we recieve E-mail due to union regulations.

Hopefully this clears up your question.

i'm a sales rep and have my email set up on my treo...not in a union market though

I know that one of the local store managers of a store that I go to often has his e-mail setup on his Blackberry. Don't know if it's a union market or not. However, I also don't know if managers fall into the same category.

The point is it can be done.

I had it install the blackberry software on my computer and had them provision me for bes.

I was and my coworker who also has access to work email on his bb is union.

They tried to tell me the samething when I was retail, but it's bull. I did it. They just don't want to give it to you. I moved from retail that was not in the union to engineering in the union and was still hourly. It was almost manditory for us to recieve email via BB/PDA. They hooked it up with no questions asked. You just have to talked to the right people and keep *****ing about it.

Union COR rep.
ATT Email on BlackBerry.

So, there goes that theory.

Huh? You just proved my theory? He can get it, he just has to talk to the right people.

It can be done if you're a manager. Managers are allowed to check it because they're salaried anyway. Employees and agents aren't allowed to due to the same reason. And it is set up through a BES server so you have to have that too..

I'm an non-union at&t COR rep and have corporate email on my BB. So does every other rep in the store. If your manager says you can't have it, they are boneheaded. Why shouldn't a customer facing sales rep carry a pda around? What COU did they give you, a Nokia 2610?

Like I said in my previous post... bargained employees aren't allowed to do anything work related when not on the clock. If you aren't bargained... everythings up in the air..

Managers are not and cannot be in the Union. By law a union may be all worker or all manager, but may not have both.

Congratulations, you are never off the clock. Excuse me while I take a real day off.

By that logic, simply carrying your cou line around with you you are never off the clock.

And if an employee wishes to access his work email from home and work off the clock, why not, thats their decision.
