On My iPhone, Time Since Last Full Charge under Settings -> Usage

It doesn't show any thing there...

Here is a picture of what I am experiencing...

Let me know, or is there any way to fix it?

Plug it in, and wait for a full charge. After it is charged, it will then function properly. This happens when you do not fully charge it, but have pluged it in

Posted by: kamranwpi

hmmm, i do charge it every night fully... I will pay a bit more attention closely

next time it's fully charged

my iphone dose that two. If I restart the iphone it works usly but somtime it just gose away... I dont know why, its done this since I unlocked it. it that improtent to me

Mine has been doing that since I updated to 1.02 and/or started modding using iBrickr (I did both about the same time so I don't know which one is responsible).

Its annoying but whatever.

I sent my phone to Apple for exactly that same issue. When it came back, it worked fine...until the second time I charged it overnight. Since that morning (3-days ago), it has not shown any data except for the little "dashes"...

I talked to an Apple support tech last night...and she made a note of my issue. I will be sending my phone back to Apple tomorrow or Tuesday again. Plus, I have noticed that the phone has slowed down considerably switching from function to function...

Weird.

I also tried to restart it, but it didn't come with any info... It has been doing it since I have UNLOCKED it too...

Hmm, not that important to me but I do notice that battery life has been quite bad on this phone...

I have to charge it quite a few times a day... May be that's what's is responsible for it..

I've had the same thing happen...then I noticed that it only seems to happen if I unplug the charger with the phone powered off. As long as the phone is on when I unplug it, I find reasonable numbers for usage time. Good Luck!

The Apple Support tech told me that it could be that I am not registering a true complete charge, because while I have my phone plugged in overnight the phone may be constantly sending/recieving information to/from the server...causing the battery to be used as it is charging. This is a not-so-common, but docmented problem with some iPhones. She said they refer to them as "loopers". She advised me to send the phone in to have it checked to see if it is actually getting a full charge or not.

You know, it's not a huge deal...but I am pretty picky, and if I pay even $399 for a phone...it needs to work 100% as far as I'm concerned. So, I'm calling them back in the morning and making arrangements to get a loaner if the problem still persists after another overnight charge tonight...

This is interesting... btw do you have your phone on checking email every 15 mins??

I do, and I think that might be triggering it to not having full charge...

If it persist with mein, then I am also going to get it fixed..

Do you have to have AT&T service to get it fixed?

I have just cancelled my contract w/ AT&T couple days ago

I don't have any coverage with them here where I live, and T-Mo is the only ocmpany with decent coverage here...

Thanks

Yep, email is synced every 15-minutes...but I doubt that's the deal. I believe, like the tech told me that it is communicating back and forth with the server all night...and never registers a full charge...hence the meter not registering. I may or may not send mine in, since it's more a nuisance than any real problem. But, it bugs me that I know my phone is jacked up!!

But, I'm not sure if Apple will do anything under warranty for an unlocked phone....

You kno what, my phone was doing that after i applied the 1.0.1 update i believe. I was wondering why the usage was blank even if i was using the phone for a few hours. I just did a full restore and it has worked fine ever since. Also, I was having the problem in which i was not getting a full charge even though the battery was stating it was fully charged. After the update, then the restore, I was finally getting that "Glow" that everyone was talking about which indicates a full battery charge.

I don't know if you guys are modding your phones or not but if you're in the modding world that happens when the springboard is restarted....after installing a program from installer and what not.

That would explain my cause. Is there a fix?

Posted by: Jasper44

Nope, it's just something we have to live with I guess. It doesn't get fixed until the phone is fully charged again.

I have set to send my phone back to Apple a second time, and they have a loaner coming tomorrow.

Hope they can get it right this time...

Posted by: kamranwpi

okay this what has happened to me... I was using an Old iPod charger to charge my iPhone.. I took the charger that came w/ iPhone or a USB on computer... and charged it fully this morning... & Guess what it is working beautiful now... No prob so far...

It shows me all the info....

But, I feel like something is definately up w/ iPhone charging ...

Since alot of people wrote here

Posted by: Grooby

I've yet use the charger that came w/ the iphone. I just use the USB cable to charge. Do you think that is why I am not seeing anything?

Update: I am pissed!!

I called Apple Support an hour or so ago, to check if my loaner would be here tomorrow...and the dude that I spoke to this time said that it would be 2-3 days for it to reach me. I told him that it was a re-repair instead of a new one...and he transfered me to a young lady who was an "iPhone Product Specialist". She sounded very techie and nerdy (not that there is anything wrong with that)...and explained to me that the battery meter was not meant to be accurate, only "close" to the right display of battery usage. She went on to say that it sounded like a software and not a hardware issue...and that before they replaced the phone, she wanted me to do some testing for her...

1) A full-restore through iTunes (did that tonight...nothing changed)
2) A full battery drain until the phone dies and goes into "sleep mode"...then do a full charge (doing that tomorrow)
3) Putting phone in Airplane mode...then in iPod mode, playing a 12-song loop until the battery dies...then I could call her and tell her how long the battery really lasted.

I told her that I was a businessman, and couldn't do without my functional phone for a day while it was iPod-ing itself to death. She proceeded to tell me again that the meter was not meant to be accurate, only close...and that she couldn't replace the phone until she knew I would be satisfied with a new phone, and that the meter issue wouldn't be an ongoing issue with me.

Before I blew my stack with this brainy, but stubborn-as-hell young lady...I told her that if the meter was "close" instead of dead-on accurate, I could live with that...but if the damn thing didn't work at all...I could not, and wanted a new phone. She then gave me her direct line and I told her I would call her after doing her guinnea-pig tests...

Grrrrrrrrrrrr......

I just got an email from Apple that said my loaner had been shipped, but that it would be 2-3 business days until it would be to me. If I can't get the full-drain/full-charge to work...I will ask them to just replace the phone.

I can probably live with the meter not working...but it's the principle of the thing. Either make the phone work right...or give me another one!!! Don't argue with me, and try and tell me that it's supposed to be that way...and that there is nothing you can do about it!!

Thank you...I feel much better now.

I thought my wasn't working too, until a went a whole day or so without tapping Installer.app... now I realize that every time installer reboots the springboard my usage time gets reset.

Yes, that's what I said in post 13.

I've had this problem and I noticed when I sync with my PC to add songs, movies, etc. and the unplug it, I get the message that it will will display after a full charge. I figured it was because the partial charge during the sync would cause the numbers to be in-accurate. Either way, I don't really care if that feature works or not... davistld01, you seem to be making a really big deal about a very minimal issue...

I have come to that conclusion myself. I am kinda embarrassed that I got all hot and bothered about it, personally.

In fact, I am planning to send Apple back their loaner when/if it comes and keep my phone since it performs perfectly aside from this minor issue. Besides...why do I care at all what the usage time since the last charge is? All I care about is if the battery lasts as long as it is supposed to...and it does. So, I really have no room to whine...
