Im looking at getting an iphone, but i want to make sure that everything will work with my current Tmo plan with Tzones. Will Safari & youtube work for me? Other than those 2 im not all that worried about it, but those 2 r a big deal.

If i can get google maps & weather to work also, that would be great, but YouTube & safari are must haves at this point.

yes but you need to do the proxy modification first. MOD, I am sure you will probably move this to the hacking and mod forum.

I'm confused about the Youtube issue... Youtube works on my iphone, but only via WIFI. It does NOT work with Tzones. Same for Gmail... works on Wifi, but not on Tzones....?

Safari web, stocks, weather... they all work on Tzones... only MAIL and YOUTUBE do not... and I have the proxy settings installed.

Maybe TMO's EDGE just sucks... I haven't been able to get anything above 115Kbps on the iPhone.

You can exclude your Email from proxying. See my post in "Proxy Hack - it Works!" thread in "iPhone Hacking and Unlocking" subforum. My Yahoo Mail and all other apps now work with both Wifi and EDGE/GPRS (except of YouTube, GPRS is too slow for it).

humm... My email stocks, gmail and stuff work with the standard proxy hack. I do not use yahoo so that I do not know.

Does anyone who is reading this thread know, since Youtube works on Wifi, but not on EDGE/Tzones, is that a youtube activation problem? or is that simply that Youtube won't work on Tzones?

I saw there is another thread about Youtube, and re-activating the phone using a PACAY thing... but my Youtube icon DOES work using Wifi, just not on Tzones Edge. I wanted to verify that I needed to change/modify or use anything else to make it work.

in order to use web on tzone edge, you'll have to do the proxy.pac hack else t-mo tzone blocks port 80 for web access. the Proxy.pac tells the iphone to use the t-mo proxy server to access the internet.

i have the 2.99 grandfathered tzones in LA. I did the edge modification file thing and I have basically everything working:

safari - yes
mail - yes
google maps - yes
you tube - yes sort of (featured and most viewed work but search does not)
weather - yes
stocks - yes

For those of you reporting that youtube doesnt work on edge, please understand that it is on a case by case basis. Some are reporting YouTube working just fine on Edge. Others not. Hopefully there will be a solid resolution soon.

Thats the question, does the youtube issue have to do with re-activating the phone? Youtube works FINE on wifi, but not on edge. I'm trying to figure out is an iphone configuration issue (with edge) or is it a Tzones issue that is beyond my control.

Nobody has figured out why youtube will not work with the $5.99 t-zones hack.

Can anyone confirm if youtube works with the t-mobile $19.99 data plan?

Im having the same problem You tube wont work on edge but works with wifi tzones plan,,any solutions out there
