Hi. Does anyone know where I can send my Motorola E398 so they can put the newer flash? I have an E398 that is triband and i want it to have the 4 bands (quadband global)... Anyone knows where or how to do it? Thanks

You need to convert your E398 from R372 to R373. There should be a walk through somewhere on the site for this. If you still can't find it, PM me.

Edit: check this out. http://www.e398mod.com/content/category/3/7/25/

Sorry, but Im new here and I dont even know where to start. Do you know anyone or any company that will do this for me? Or which one I need to use...

Not sure of a company but I know a lot of members would probably do it. I'd do it but you would need to ship it to me.

OK, first, you do NOT need to convert from 372 to 373; this is quite easy if you have used any of the flash programs. All you need to do is to 'FLEX' the flash enabler program. It is a 1kb program that sets a phone up for flashing. It is called, "R373 Flash Enabler.hs" that is all you need and all you need to do. You may, depending on the e398, need to do some seem editing as well; more on that later. Remember, FLEX the flash enabler - do NOT flash the flash enabler.
If you want someone to do it for you, contact Hagan on MotoX forum; he can put the latest flash on it and convert to quadband. I have done over a dozen e398s for family and friends and once you do it, it is easy to do and a lot of fun to customize it as well. Here is a seem edit guide I have used numbers of times: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...bans+seem+edits
and here is the HoFo thread on the 850 band for e398s: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...ghlight=MOTOKIT
Good Luck!

Edit: I just googled for the flash enabler and found it here: http://www.esnips.com/doc/73d7f582-...lash-Enabler.hs

Hi and thanks for the information. How can I contact Hogan from moto X. What is the website?
Thanks for your time and help.

Well first thing, forget that 373 enabler. When you find shoey's stuff, you convert to 373 and then you can flash any mosterpack that you want. Its very easy and I offered to do it for you. If you do it the way I did it, you won't have to screw with seem edits, which to someone new is very complicated. Its your phone, I'm not telling you what to do with it, just the easiest way to do it.

To contact Hogan, go to www.motox.info

i'm with Soccerjohn on this....he and i both learned the world of modding together and we have both flashed several 398's and E1's NUMEROUS times, successfully.

I'd have to agree that just flashing over to 373 firmware is the easiest way and it truly opens a 398 to it's full potential!

but, it's his phone and he'll do with it what he pleases...

so best of luck to you

No disagreement from me on whether to convert from 372 to 373 or not -- a whole world of possibilities for modding open up after the conversion. That said, the answer to his question was how to enable quad-band on a 372 tri-band. Over 2 years ago, the secret was discovered by "eyes_only", sho3y, and others; and I modded my first 398 going from tri-band to quad at that time -- worked great. Like you, since then I have taken over a dozen 398s from 372 to 373 for family and friends with different MPs and they are all as pleased as punch; NEVER used "42_4_all" and never had had a problem. Have also modded 3 E1s with several MPs and a couple of V3s. Modding is a blast. That said, many first time modders start by just flashing something without understanding how different applications affect their phone and you read post after post about "help, I messed up my phone..." when if they just read and studied how to mod: load drivers, connect to PC, flex, flash, hex edit, extract, compile, etc., they would not be so unhappy. I recall the feeling when I bricked my first 398 and V3 -- a sickening feeling. Fortunately there were a number of good folks to help here and and other forums to rescue me from my blunder (actually it was an application glitch -- FB2.62 -- that burped on two different phones; but there were folks who knew how to work around and provide the support. HoFo is great! Modding rocks!
