e816/e815 Not Charging on USB

OK, so i just got a Amp'd e816 and flashed to Alltel e815 firmware.
I dont have a charger (yet), but i have a OEM moto USB cable (its white?).
It works with the phone in PST and such, but doesnt charge it.
Does this cable just not charge it, or am i missing something here?

As far as I know, the cable is only for data transfer and doesn't charge. My data cable has a built-in socket to plug in the power cord so the battery doesn't die while you're in the middle of some data-related activities...

ok, thanks. i guess i will go out today and buy a charger.
