Question about "Band Selection" on Blackjack

recently i took internet off my phone for a couple monthes so i can save some money. i did this hack ( http://i607.org/wiki/doku.php?id=band_selection ) on i607.org and was wondering does this go to my bill? may sound dumb i know just can i get a answer

no all you did was told the phone what frequency to connect on the network to instead of Auto. It would have eventually figured out 850 or 1900 but you just told it. That has nothing to do with your bill.

why would anyone need to do it? It doesn't make the phone any better or anything.

No. Regardless what band you selected (BTW, you can only chose 850 or 1900 in US), you are still going through Cingular/ATT's network. Some places they offer both bands. Some places they offer only one band. You really don't need to play with Band selection unless you're roaming outside US and your phone have trouble picking up a signal.
